They won't even need him. This might be the worst run defense of any SB team to this point.

I.O. are you basing this on the whole season?

Maybe you are just stirring the pot..either way my humble opinion..

Certainly can't be on the results of Colts last few games. If they were the team I was paying to play I would want them peaking at the right time. It is that time.
Mighty hard to dispute that the COLTS RUN 'D' over these last few games has done more than an average job of stopping the run..

Tell me they stunk for almost the entire regular season..I buy it.. You are damn right. They sure did..
What I will not buy is that a team "D" giving up an average of 73.3 yards a game on the ground over the course of 3 PLAYOFF GAMES is the worst run defense of any SB team to this point.
KC was going to run wild..2nd best back in the league..yada yada yada.
Ravens will bully and push Colts into the Chesapeake Bay..yada yada yada.
Patriots always beat the Colts when it counts.Brady ring..Brady King..Pats' bend don't break "D". more yada yada yada..

I respect your opinion.Further I respect your right to voice it Hell, that is part of the enjoyment of such a forum..Fans get to be fanatic.

On the biggest day in Indianapolis Colts History[given media coverage and hate or dislike for a Future Hall of Fame QB] I seriously doubt that the Colt "D" doesn't give the same type of performance and effort they have shown over the last 3 games.

May be as wrong as wrong can be..But I don't think so...We will see...

"His ball-placement is almost perfect,? said linebacker Lance Briggs. ?When I watched the last time we played them when they spanked us, he made some throws in the corner of the end zone that were amazing. Nathan Vasher had great coverage and there was nothing he could do about it. He was as advertised.?

The Bears respect Manning, but they know that he?s not invincible. After throwing nine TD passes and no interceptions in his last three regular-season games, the Colts superstar has tossed just two TD passes and six interceptions in three playoff victories. In the post-season, Manning?s passer rating is just 66.8, more than eight points lower than Rex Grossman?s 75.4.

?There are quite a few challenges we will face against Peyton,? said coach Lovie Smith. ?He is a coach on the field. He studies the game as well as anyone. He has a great arm. He is an excellent leader. All of his teammates believe in him. He is that perfect mold that you draw up when you are looking for a quarterback.?

A Bears defense that led the NFL with 44 takeaways and tied for eighth with 40 sacks is determined to generate pressure on Manning, who was sacked only 14 times this season.

?He knows exactly where the defensive linemen are going to be at all times,? Ogunleye said. ?He knows what his linemen are capable of, and how long they are capable of blocking. He doesn?t hold the ball longer than that.

?The play-action pass is really good. They do a really good job of mixing it up. The defensive lines, in watching film, get stuck at the line of scrimmage because they?re not sure if it?s a run or pass. With any defense the mindset is stop the run first. You?ve got to respect that.?

Manning was only sacked twice in Indianapolis? last five regular-season games.

?It?s hard to get guys in his face because they do such a good job protecting him and he gets rid of the football so fast,? said middle linebacker Brian Urlacher. ?He sees things coming really quick and he gets rid of the football or he checks out of it.

?No quarterback likes pressure. You get guys in his face or at his feet, they are not going to like it and they may make some bad throws. It?s one thing to say, but you?ve got to do it. No one has really been able to do it all year against them, especially with the way they run the football and being more physical than they have in the past.?

Manning has an array of explosive weapons at his disposal, led by wide receivers Marvin Harrison (95 receptions for 1,366 yards and 12 TDs) and Reggie Wayne (86-1,310-9). Like the Bears, the Colts also boast a dangerous 1-2 combo in the backfield with running backs Joseph Addai (226 carries for 1,081 yards and 7 TDs) and Dominic Rhodes (187-641-5).

?Indianapolis has a great quarterback,? said safety Chris Harris. ?They have a very good running game, and they have two of the best receivers in the league. We?re going to have our hands full.

?It should be pretty fun. They?re going to hit us with a lot of stuff. What we?re going to have to do is stop their running game and try to force them into a one-dimensional team.?

Manning is adept at running a no-huddle offense, seemingly changing plays at the line of scrimmage while gesturing wildly with his hands as he stalks back and forth between the tackles.
................................................................

I lost the Ravens game when I was sure the Ravens defense would get to Manning and toss him around like a rag doll. They sacked him one time. Once !

Suprised you havent made the trip out to LV for the SB before.
Why not drop 4-5 hundred on a place to stay and round trip airfare? (Tropicana and flying cross country) Assuming youre really putting 4k down on the game then its obviously not a cash issue. A complementary SB party with Jack and 50+ other posters on a site you visit almost daily? Just curious why you wouldnt want to put faces to names youve seen for years and years.

Big games have not bothered Manning in his past.
I may end up taking a chunk on the -7 also.

Good luck either way.

At least get the 6 1/2s that are out there all over the place. That for should.

I really would like to make the party one of these years. I have been to Vegas many times in the past and really like the city. My brother lived in Vegas and we had many happy times there as he worked in entertainment there. Then he got a serious illness and the trips there were not so fun anymore. I pretty much watched him die over a few years. I havnt been back since.

I have always stayed at Caesars Palace, but I think the Bellagio is where I would like to go. Assuming I could afford it of course.

My wife has never been to Vegas so maybe this year I will get out there again. Get my email from Jack and maybe we can meet up. I want to drink about 10 drinks and go on that Stratosphere roller coaster ride.

Yeh I think the 6.5 is widely available. thanks

What this tells me is that Manning is due big time in this SuperBowl game.

At least I hope thats what this is telling me.

An official EA Madden football game was
played tonight and the Colts won the
game 38-27.

Sounds about right .

"If this game had been played in September, the Bears D might have carried the day as the Indy D got run over. But four very significant things have happened in the last four months: Mike Brown and Tommie Harris got hurt for Chicago, while Bob Sanders and Booger McFarland got healthy for the Colts.

As I've noted here before, the Bears were allowing only 9.8 points per game when Brown got hurt in Week 6. They were allowing only 12.5 points per game when Harris went down in Week 13. They've been allowing almost 25 a game with those two studs on the sideline."
............................................................

I hope these two Bears stay on the sideline. !

That Tank Johnson should be there also.

GO COLTS !

I think there is a real chance for the Colts to win by 10, but this is as much money as I can play.

I am sticking with just the ml.

Urlacher is a beast on defense.

If Urlacher plays on offense at anytime.

That would tell me Chicago is struggling to score.
They need all of Urlacher playing defense at a Superbowl level the entire game.

It may not be as easy Sunday against the Colts. Peyton Manning is a master at calling plays at the line of scrimmage in the no-huddle offense, which often prevents defenses from substituting.

It no doubt will be a challenge for strongside linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer, who is replaced by nickel back Ricky Manning Jr. on passing down. Hillenmeyer, however, is not too concerned that the Bears defense will be gassed in those situations because of the warm weather.

?I?ve thought about that a lot, but especially since it?s a later game, it probably won?t be quite as hot and there?s a timeout for a commercial every 30 seconds anyway, so we should be able to keep our breath,? Hillenmeyer said.

?We?re a cold weather team, but I think we?ve done a great job keeping in shape over the course of the year. We?ve got about 10 Florida guys on our team, so they?re probably used to this weather.?

Life of Brian: Even his own teammates marvel at what Urlacher is able to accomplish on the field.

?When you play with him, you feel a little better about your chances,? said defensive end Adewale Ogunleye. ?You know that two seconds ago, he was right behind you. You look back, and he is 60 yards down the field.

?He has a lot of speed, and he is able to go sideline-to-sideline amazingly fast. To be 6-4, to weigh 260 pounds, and to be able to run like that is amazing.?

?Brian is unbelievable,? said cornerback Nathan Vasher. ?I think he?s probably one of the best defensive players I?ve ever been around. As a rookie going into that huddle for the first time with Brian Urlacher calling out the calls, it?s a great feeling.

?You know you have a standard to play up to. Losing is not an option for him, and I think that?s something that breeds throughout our whole defense.?

Health update: Wide receiver Mark Bradley (ankle) practiced for the second straight day Thursday and was removed from the injury report, leaving with no players on the list for Sunday?s Super Bowl.

For the second straight day, three Colts were questionable: cornerbacks Nick Harper (ankle) and Bob Sanders (knee) and linebacker Keith O? Neil (rib) with only Harper not practicing.

Who?s your Buddy: Defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, a linebacker with the Bears from 1984-92, will never forget the pre-game speeches that defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan delivered before the divisional playoff game, NFC championship and Super Bowl XX in 1985.

?It was one of those about what we do and doing what we do,? Rivera said, ?For the most part, he kind of told us he put together a great game-plan, and if we don?t screw it up, we?ll win.?

Rivera isn?t sure exactly what he will say before Sunday?s Super Bowl.

?I?m working on it,? he said. ?I?ve got some books that I read to look for ideas and thoughts. A lot of times, these guys don?t need anything. They challenge themselves a lot, but they also respond very well to the words.?
