To all of the guys that were in the pool that just ended in a 5-way split, I would like to say something.

First off, congratulations for going an entire season in the pool.

Secondly, and most importantly, it is common courtesy to give (tip) the person that takes his or her time to run the pool, deal with all of the cash, all of the headaches, all of the bitching, all of the moaning for their efforts. After all, there wouldn't be any money to be won if it wasn't there.

Nobody complained to me, but I could tell with the thank you that I got from him that I was one of the few, if not the only one that did so. So next time you go out celebrating your big win, maybe you should think a bit about the person that made it possible.

Just sayin'

Oh, and Happy New Year!

On the course!
I wasn't in your pool, but I run "events" all year long. I have never expected a cent for doing any of them, or accepted anything.

If the guy wants to be paid, he should charge a fee upfront from all players.

back before the ease of doing things like this on the internet and having the scoring handled automatically I could see your point because the guy running the pool would have to do all scoring and checking by hand.

but if you run a pool on ESPN or CBS where everything is done for you, what are you tipping for? just the gathering of the people?

Not true.

Way too many deadbeats jerk you around about paying on time. They don't get their plays in on time, and then expect you to wave a magic wand for them. Things like that. Still, you run it because you want to, not to be paid.

I run all kinds of contests, fantasy football to Super Bowl pools and I have never received a dime nor expected a dime for running a contest. I play in contests and if someone wants to take a cut I do not play. Sounds like you are cheap and not a very good loser, you have the mentality of most Americans these days, what is in it for me. :sadwave:

hedge you need to reread ... he WON ... so you need to apologize or delete your comment calling him cheap and a loser as he is saying that he DID give a courtesy tip ... I have also done so when playing contests

If I win a contest I will never pay a tip are you fucking kidding me? a tip for what? I tip my waiter or waitress at a restaurant or the person that delivers a pizza, not the guy running a contest, you either run it and expect nothing from the winners or charge up front for running it  If I know someone is making a cut I will not play, the mentality of some people, whats in it for me  I paid out 2,410.00 this week as commissioner of one of my fantasy football leagues and I expect nothing in return, if I am out with one of the winners I may joke around hey you gonna buy me a beer with your winnings?

 maybe a beer or two? I never been tipped and I never tipped when I won a contest, really? Do you tip if you win fantasy football? how much you tip?

A contest you never would have run in the 1st place and someone does, you win and don't tip?

I'm glad I have my buddy jr11 to run his contests.
