Good old Susan always seem to point out that the Yanks have trouble against pitchers the first time they see them. Anyone have any #'s on the Yanks ,first time against newbies ? This kid was a top prospect and held his own against the USA for Canada this spring. ANY info ?

i remember the 1st time Josh Towers (garbage SP for Toronto formerly SP for Balt) faced Yanks and mowed them down....in his rookie year.

It's not a matter if she is right but to answer the question may have put us on the right side. Like most games in MLB the starters may have a small influence in this outcome.

yanks if i recall...i read up on evil empire everyday,have faced three starters this year who had never faced them..here is the latest as i recall...
keep in mind everything changes w/out the best reliver in baseball in doubt for service...w/out mario...yanks are not as good..for obvious reasons...don't know if he is fully healthy yet...over the posted total surely worth a look see til he is ready to dominate again...
asking any pitcher to face the yanks lineup when fully heathly is a mighty tall order...asking a starter who has never faced the yanks at all is an invitation to hell. the last was

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Carlos Guillen singled in the game-winning run in the ninth inning as the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees, 7-6, to salvage a game in the four-game series at Comerica Park.
Guillen went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and Magglio Ordonez had a pair of hits and drove in four runs for the Tigers, who snapped a four-game losing skid.
Leading 6-5, a one-out walk came back to haunt Kyle Farnsworth, who was called on to close the game in place of the ailing Mariano Rivera. Rivera sat out the game after suffering back spasms before the game.
Marcus Thames drew a free pass and Ivan Rodriguez singled before Ordonez's run-scoring base hit tied the game 6-6. Guillen then singled to right, plating Rodriguez for the winning run.
Rodriguez finished 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and Thames had two hits and scored three runs for the Tigers, who avoided their first four-game sweep in Detroit at the hands of the Yankees since 1926.
Fernando Rodney (4-1) picked up the win, giving up two hits in two innings. Rodney has held opponents scoreless in 21 of his 23 outings, including his last eight appearances.
Andy Phillips drove in a pair of runs on three hits and Jorge Posada had three RBI for the Yankees, who had a five-game winning streak come to an end. Jason Giambi homered and Robinson Cano was 4-for-5 in the contest.
Farnsworth (1-3) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk to blow his second straight save. Scott Proctor pitched 2 1/3 hitless innings of relief.
The Yankees drew first blood with a run in the top of the second. Cano hit a one-out opposite field double and scored moments later on Phillips' broken bat two-bagger to right.
New York extended its lead with four more runs in the third. Johnny Damon doubled to begin the frame and Melky Cabrera and Alex Rodriguez walked to load the bases. Posada then lined a bases-clearing double to right for a 4-0 margin. Cano followed with a single to right, moving Posada to third, and Phillips drove him in with a sacrifice fly to center.
Detroit got on the board in the fourth with a trio of runs. Curtis Granderson, Thames and Rodriguez all singled to load the bases before Ordonez walked. Guillen then hit a run-scoring base hit to left to pull within 5-2. Omar Infante lined a one-out single to left, plating Rodriguez, narrowing the gap to 5-3.
However, the Yankees got one run back in the fifth off the bat of Giambi, who hit an opposite field homer on a 3-2 offering for a 6-3 advantage.
Justin Verlander pitched five frames, surrendering six runs on seven hits. He also struck out four and walked four. :scared
