Managing is overrated......Either players get it done or not.....All you heard for about 65 to 70 games this year was Don Mattingly was about to get fired and then all of sudden Puig is called up, Hanley Ramirez gets healthy( both hitting around .400 for that period of time), Greinke is healthy after breaking his collarbone, Jansen lights out as a closer and now Mattingly is a genius.........on the flip side the Giants are now a mess not because Bochy forgot how to manage but the Giants' staring pitching outside of Bumgarner is pathetic.....

I agree that players have to hit and pitch but managers can drop the ball on strategy. Last postseason, dusty pitched to a giants hitter in extras when the pitcher was on deck with no extra position players to pinch hit. Forget who got the winning hit but it is dumb moves like that one that can kill you. He has done that multiple times.
Even now, he just had Votto up with runners on 1st and 2nd and he sent the runner on second with no outs. Dumb managing
