Just saw this line move under 7 in some places. This line is off. MD has lost to Florida St and N. Ill while Clemson has beaten up on Furman and Middle TN. Agree that MD has beaten no one either, but this is a great position for them. I have always hated and will always hate the Clemson offense. It is terrible against any team with a good defense, and MD has a good defense with young linebackers that are only getting better. Look what Georgia did to them. MD pounds Clemson this weekend.

Maryland 35 Clemson 14

i think

i think

it`s an over reaction to the bye, clemson`s beating up on lesser caliber clubs and maryland`s look past e.michigan...

i think md gets sam maldonado back at rb....the perfect guy to pound the clemson defense....and i hear that although perry`s ankle was a little sore after limited action vs e mich,he`s expected to play.....

clemson again has a very limited running game.....you can`t be one dimensional vs this caliber opposition....

....now,the maryland dud vs e mich is looking better to me ....give`s us some line value here....looking at this line,i`d think this was at clemson....

but, anything can happen....we`ve seen it all year long....

Look what Georgia did to them.
Georgia didn't stop Clemson; the Clemson coaching staff did.

Still, I'm surprised this line is as low as it is. I thought it would open at 12, and I was very surprised to see it bet down from 8.5 to 6.5.

I like the Terps here too, but not sure how much yet.

Also, I believe Maldonado is out onemore game on the suspension.

Perry is still questionable and may play a little, but I expect Allen to carry the load. Friedgen reportedly is very happy with his play right now. Friedgen's quote about Perry was that he "will take whatever I can get with Bruce."

I am more concernced about Lamar Bryant, who should play. The offensive line is the key to this offense. When they can run the ball, they are very hard to beat. On the other hand, Clemson will not be able to run at all, which will force them into many long passing situations.

Friedgen is spending alot of time this week getting his team focused on the rest of the year. They had a team meeting Saturday night after the EMU game for precisely that purpose.

MD will be ready for this game. They have let me down a little this year, but I am willing to bet they are focused. This season mirrors last year. They still can win or finish second in the conference which means a major Bowl game, which is what Friedgen is most concerned about.

This line should be 10-12.

damn it

damn it

i thought the maldonado suspension was one game....i don`t like josh allen carrying the load at all......he`s talented and physically is very imposing....but he runs very soft for a guy as physically gifted as he is......

clemson still doesn`t defend the run all that well vs top clubs....nor do they run that well themselves......but,i`m not happy with basically just josh allen and mario merrills toting the ball....

i`m very disappointed...this looked like a very nice play at 6.5 or 7.....now,i`ll have to downgrade the play.....still playing it....i thought we really had something here...maldonado must have really gotten under ralph`s skin to get suspended for 2 games with perry injured.....

it`s always something....

My thoughts exactly. With Allen and Perry/Maldonado, MD has a much better shot at dominating this game. After those three it falls offa bit and Maryland has less of a chance to dominate.

Still, Friedgen owns little Bowden, and its at home, and its a big statement game. Gotta put something on the terps.

agree,jeff

agree,jeff

clemson still has to show up vs the "good" teams.....in college,as in the pro`s,it`s tough to play with the big boys without a solid ground game......

are the terps big boys?....we are gonna find out this week.....if this was vs virginia or wake forest,i`d have to pass.....

I agree and disagree. I really do not think Maldonado would make a difference in this game and he certainly will not affect my wager. I agree that he would be nice to have, but I do not think it makes a wagering difference. The real motivation here is Friedgen and his staff. I truly believe they have one of the top three (if not the best) coaching staffs in the nation from top to bottom. They will be ready and motivated.

Any thoughts on Texas? I just don't think the K St defense can stop them. This line is also a surprise to me.

love freidgen ,too............just that the terps have been inconsistent so far(to put it mildly)......this should be a game that they are focused on....i think they could really pound the ball down clemson`s throat with a power back like maldonado.....allen,imo,is very inconsistent....if the terps can`t run, this will be a dogfight......not completely sold on allen.....

but,as i stated in my thread,6.5-7 looks a tad light....i`m there....

Tigers out to change the underdog theory
By Earl Gault The Herald

(Published October 1? 2003)

CLEMSON -- Clemson football coach Tommy Bowden wasn't surprised when he found out his Tigers are underdogs to Maryland this Saturday in a 3:30 p.m. Atlantic Coast Conference game in College Park, Md.

Odds makers have made the Tigers (3-1, 1-0 ACC) an underdog by 9 1/2 points.

"Nine-and-a-half seems about normal," Bowden said Tuesday morning. "(The players) know. We've been beaten the last two (years) pretty substantially, and we're playing them at home (at Maryland)."

The Tigers have been made an underdog to the Terps (3-2, 0-1 ACC) despite coming off their best effort of the season, a 39-3 pounding of ACC foe Georgia Tech in Atlanta almost two weeks ago.

Maryland has won the past two games over Clemson by an average of 17 1/2 points.

Although the Tigers played extremely well against Georgia Tech, Bowden is sure they won't be overconfident.

"Maryland has had our number the last two years," Bowden said. "Gosh, how could we get overconfident?"

Bowden is also hopeful that last week's open date had a positive effect on the Tigers.

"With what happened at Geo-rgia Tech, I think we learned, from the mental standpoint, on how to approach the open date," Bowden said. "The first thing I told them after the game at Georgia Tech is that we haven't arrived yet. We've just played four games. There's a bunch more left.

"How well the open date affects us from the preparation standpoint, I don't think I can tell until we play Maryland."

Charlie Whitehurst, Clemson's sophomore quarterback, is hoping the Tigers can pick up where they left off in the Georgia Tech game.

"I hope we don't get overconfident. I think that's what hurt Georgia Tech when we played 'em," said Whitehurst, who has averaged 299.0 yards passing in his past three games. "Hopefully, we can take a lesson from them, stay humble. We know we haven't arrived yet."

Whitehurst does see the off-week as having plusses and minuses.

"I enjoyed it just because your body's getting beat down. You've played four games and you've got a couple bumps and bruises," Whitehurst said. "It's kind of nice to work those out and get healthy.

"But it would have also been nice to keep this momentum that we have and continue to play week after week. I like the confidence of this team right now. I hope we don't have some rust to knock off from this bye week."

Clemson wide receiver Airese Currie doesn't believe that the Tigers are about to overlook Maryland.

"We just don't want to do the same thing Georgia Tech did to us," said Currie, who is averaging 6.5 receptions a game, which ranks second in the ACC. "There was a lot of talk that they were overlooking us and they had chalked it up as a win. We don't want to do the same thing with Maryland. We just want to come out focused, play real hard and concentrate on what we have to do this week."

and now

and now

steve suter`s knee is a real problem.... he may play still....i just don`t like all these negatives.....it would be foolish, imo,to ignore all these problems on offense......still on `em....at half of my original wager.....g.l.

Suter's injury is a concern, but I think he is going to play. My play is based more on MD's defense stopping Clemson's high school offense.

Thinking of adding a play to the Ov48.
