i just read this story & it makes bush's advisors look phony.but i guess you cannot expect his people to act differently than other politcian's advisors.
i had a sales manager who had an expression,"it's not what is thats important, but what it appears to be that's important"
imo, that sums up politics.
stevie,
when the us supported iraq in their war against iran, the administration then thought that iran, with the ayatollah(sp?) was more of a menace than saddam.that kind of strategy is common in politics, side with people who could help us at that time, & worry about the consequences later on.
i believe history will show that the bush foreign team to be one of the best if not the best foreign team in american history.there is nobody on the democratic side who can match them. btw, we don't know how another president, whether republican or democrat, would have acted post 9/11.maybe another president would not have committed troops into afghanistan like bush. when clinton attacked kosovo, there were no "boots on the ground". everything was done through the air & it prooved to be effective. maybe thats how another president would have chosen to fight in afghanistan.
