Week 4 Comments: 21 wins, and 18 losses, with 1 push
We suffered several close losses, as three games were tied in the 4th QTR, and all dogs failed to cover. Fortunately, the quarter angles (again) saved the day. In fact, the quarters angle is crushing the books, at 30-13 thus far in the season.
I have no idea why more bettors are not taking advantage of these bad lines. Consider that I blew it on sevral home dogs, but made money with the quarters. We had huge wins on the quarters angles with the NY Giants (good for five units). BUFF lost the game by 14 points, yet covered THREE OF FOUR QUARTERS AND THE FIRST HALF, for a 4-1 record! Cincinnati lost by 11, but covered in 2 of 4 quarters. SFO put on an awful performance, but still covered in 2 of the 4 quarters. As I?ve said before, the wonderful thing about the quarters angle is ? even if you lose the game ATS, you can pick up a push when the quarters break even. Honestly, I?m backing away from sides betting ? AND AI FAIL TO UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY SO MUCH OF OUR ATTENTION IS FOCUSED ON SIDES. For my money ? I?m placing higher wagers on quarters and select halftime angles.
Thos of you who can pick sides and want to rack your brains over one team or the otehr have my admiration. I'm moving on to (what is for me) greener pastures.
MONDAY NIGHT REFLECTIONS: Although I did not post the plays here, I was at the SunCoast about an hour before game time and decided to look at the closing numbers for the BALT-KC game. That?s when it hit me! I realized that KC WAS A TERRIFIC LIVE DOG, and was GETTING POINTS IN ALL FOUR QUARTERS! BALT simply did not have the offense to outscore the Chiefs in all four quarters, I reasoned, so I knew I was frerolling on the Chiefs. I placed $400 on every quarter, plus $400 on the first half. The worst juice I had to lay was -120. A few of the quarters were EVEN and -105.
We won the first quarter.
We should have won the second quarter too, except for the Chiefs inability to get a first down with a minute left, then a Ravens 60 yard punt return.
At the half, the line was BALT -3. THE LINE WAS TERRIBLE. KC was dominating the game, in time of possession and moving the ball downfield. This was an insane line. So, I pounded KC +3 for $500 each, -115 at one website and -120 at another. The websites only take a $500 max on these wagers.
KC won the third quarter. KC won the fourth quarter. KC won the second half.
So, we cashed again BIG on the LIVE DOG QUARTERS angle. KC should have swept the board, but still went a respectable 5-1, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A CLOSE GAME according to the final score.
I?m not sure how much more I?ll be posting here. I think with this QUARTERS ANGLE, I have discovered another potential goldmine, like the halftime angles were about 3 years ago before they became obsolete. I?m not going to write any more about them, for now because I intend to make some coin with them first.
So, this will likely be my last post for awhile.
THE DEATH OF THE HALFTIMES ANGLES: I?m backing off the halftimes plays after this week, except for the ?blowout? angle. The 13 and 17 point angles have become break-even at best, as oddsmakers have caught on and are making lower totals on these games. We enjoyed a great three-year run with these angles, but the end may be near.
