Why didn't they bring in Kim?? Let Johnson finish his game or at least this inning. He's got to be sick watching that grand slam.

That damn guy almost threw the ball away twice trying to intentionally walk Coomer. He had choke written all over his face. What a dumbass Brenly is.

What exactly was the reason for taking out Johnson? He couldn't wait to lose. That didn't make any sense. Was he paid to do that.

Why take him out to bring in a guy with control problems and then load the bases and give him no room for error. Something fishy about that. You are telling Johnson can't get 1 more guy out.

I agree. And if I'm Johnson I say hell I've come this far let me lose it myself and take my chances on getting the last out. THEN let someone pitch the ninth if you wanna take him out. Freakin idiot.

Agree RAZ. You'll make it back. Better to go down at the begining than the end if you're gonna go down. Braves got a guy at third, now let's push him across.

Good luck the rest of the week.

Brenly can suck my balls

Brenly can suck my balls

I had the D'Backs and as I was watching that unfold ... all I was thinking and screaming inside was ... what the hell are you thinking ... not just taking Johnson out but putting in that young bum with a horrible WIP to load the bases and then pitch with them juiced. I mean, what the hell was he thinking except maybe "Hey, I'd really like to steal that idiot manager of the year award from Bobby Cox this year."

Anyway ... WHAT THE F**K! :thefinger

I hate losing like that!

At least bring Kim in for christ sakes if you must take him out.

I agree Zigzag ... it was like he couldn't wait to lose ... I think they better investigate ... we could have another Pete Rose except he may have bet against his team.

could not agree more guys. Very painful to watch. They scraped back and I knew they would blow it when they could not push 1 run across with the bases loaded and no outs. OUCH. Also why load the bases???? I understand the play is anywhere, but Spencer has been hot as hell all night. What the F%^$!!!!! are you thinking???? If I were Johnson I would want somebodys head. Atleast let him blow it.

Sorry game still bothering me. That is the problem with having to work after the games. If you know you are going to intentionaly walk for the force out, why would you not want your best pitcher in that spot? If Kim is not his best why is he the closer. If he can't get over past problems. What will make it any easier if this comes up again in a more important role.

The reason they took out Johnson was the 130 plus pitches and the fact he threw 137 in his last start, which was his previous high for this season. Still, if I'm managing, I bring in Kim right then, not Prinz. The whole idea of a closer is to cut off game deciding rallies. Managers have gotten it into their tiny heads that they can only bring in the closer to start the 9th inning. About the only guy I see who's not afraid to bring the closer in during the 8th inning is Joe Torre.

Mouse Brain

Mouse Brain

Here is what I think was going on in Brenly's mouse brain on Monday night: I've used Kim 3 days in a row (0.2 inn of Fri, 1.1 on Sat, and 1 inning on Sunday).... I will try to get out of the 8th inning and use Kim just for the 9th....

Problem with that theory is that the 8th is when the game was going to be decided.. if you were going to throw Kim, 1 and 1/3 innings isn't much different than 1 inning.. plus if Kim was to blow the lead by coming in in the 8th, then he could have pulled him and not blown out his arm, if that was what he was worried about...

The part that everyone is missing is the bonehead move Brenly made on Sunday that made the difference in MONDAY's game....

Brenly put in Kim to pitch the bottom of the 9th on Sunday with a 4 run lead (7-3).. with the Yankee series coming up, and given Kim had already pitched 2 days in a row at that point, he should have not used Kim in that situation. He could have used Myers or Prinz there - then we wouldn't have put himself in the bind he found himself Monday night...

So I guess that makes 2 bonehead moves (even tho AZ won Sunday's game) in 2 days... the move Sunday cost them Monday's game in my opinion...

I think I have the answer why he didn't go to Kim: Kim had pitched in 5 straight games (there was one off day for the D-Backs in that period). 5 games of pitching in 6 days. I wouldn't be surprised if Brenly kept him out tonight as well.

That is an excellent point, Mags. No way in hell should your supposedly already over worked closer be in to pitch in a 7-3 game with a World Series rematch on-deck the very next night!! If Brenly doesn't think the other guys could've gotten 3 outs without allowing 4 runs first in that situation....well then he's even dumber than I thought!!

although not as bad as raz, this game killed me, (2200 swing). Mags made many valid points, being a Boston Fan I got a good look at Arizona this weekend. Much better club than I thought .
That said, Brenley burned Kim all 3 weekend games against Boston. Only in the Pedro Schillingmatchup was Kim needed. Certainly Sunday he wasn't with a 4 run lead.

I haven't seen anyone mentioned the perfect double play ball Posada hit to 3rd, obviously Donnells isn't a 3rd basemen.

Johnson had thrown 130 + pitches 2 straight outings, he is your franchise, and I hear his back is a lot worse than advertised. You can possibly see lifting him, but definitely not for Priz! This guy was brought in 2 face Coomer, and Yankees countered with Ventura, in my opinion the move is then Mike Myers, the guy looked awesome against lefty' s at Fenway.

You could see Prinz was nervous as Hell just throwing the intentional walk, why let him continue??

I can't see any way around it, Brenley blew this game terribly, and made poor decisions before this Series even started in Boston. Obviously a terrible beat, Yankees score all runs on homers, including one from some guy even most fans have never heard of! Why then did we play Arizona?? Because the unit was -155! It was the right play, at least that's what I keep telling myself:shrug:

good luck tonight

Alot of guys out there who took the Yankees and would use all this stuff as the reason why. Kim not available, Yankees home dog, etc..... If I was on that side I'd be gloating right now. I've won a few the same way and I credited it to good capping not an idiotic manager so I guess I can't complain too much.
