Tar Heel Gameday Sat (Clemson)

It's time for this tar heel team to put up or shut up. They need to prove they can win on the road in the ACC, and today should be a good chance to get that started. Clemson, from what I've seen, does have a knack for hanging around games. Many of their losses they were in the game until the final 10 minutes of play. The tar heels showed a great 1-3-1 zone against state in the 2nd half which really won the game for them. Roy hates zone but maybe this team needs a little more of it. We'll see if he plays some sets with that zone, I think he might toy around with it. All in all, I think the line is fairly accurate, so play this small. I think carolina gets it done and rolls some momentum for when the dookies come into town thursday.

I have mixed feelings on the total. Clemson has fairly low scoring games, and with an increased emphasis on d the game might go under. BUT, w/ these guys, they might forget about the d like they do a lot and just try to run-and-gun. Clemson has played well against us at home recently but I think that ends today. I'm really looking forward to the dookie/gt game today.

gl saint. ive agreed with a lot of recent recent tarheel plays but i cant lay that many road points with a team giving up 81ppg in ACC play (and that # doesnt count the OT pts in wake and fsu gms either). carolina defense just too undisciplined. gl man. duke/carolina should be a great one coming up. (if # is fair, id be more inclined to play carolina there)

Regardless of the line, take dook next week.

No way any team will win a game when the opponent shoots 12/14 from 3 and outrebounds you by 10+. I can't fathom how a defense can be so bad. Yes, it's kind of a fluke that clemson shot so well from long range, but when 75% of those shots come without a guy w/in a 5ft radius, then it's your own fault. Dook should wax us next week. We'll see what the line is, but I would take them no matter what.

one game certainly would be a fluke but UNC is No 300+ in scoring D. 250+ in fg D, and last in ACC in both categories. something tells me that they show and the line may be a bit inflated as well, but at the same time ROy will still be on the sidelines

clemson averages 58 pts per game and if they make free throws today they hit 90.may is just in a funk and williams hasn't been himself since game at myrtle beach.they will play better on thursday but some people that i know who are very close to team tell me roy is very frustrated with lack of heart and character.i think line will be 4.5 or more next week and i still would take heels.least i win the over today.

I feel that UNC was in a tough spot today. It seems easy to overlook an average Clemson squad, even on the road, just off of an emotional win over NC St with the mighty Blue Devils on deck.

I would be surprised if Tarheels didn't put up a solid effort on Thursday.

Fact: He quit on his team only because he knew they sucked.

Fact: He wont accept the losses for that team and places them on the asst coach because he cares more about his record than his team.

Fact: If he was half the coach people think he is, he would have won a helluva lot more than he has. If anything he underachieves.

most areas have free anger management classes or therapy available.you might want to look into this because i have a feeling this may carry over into your personal life .many experts think one's sexual performance is adversely affected by latent anger issues.moving on to your ranting about coach i checked a few sources and found he has 11 national coach of the year awards in 8 different seasons,60-15 record in ncaas,9 final fours,3 nat'l titles,2001 naismith hall of fame inductee with chaney and moses malone,west point grad and army captain,663-234 overall record,2001 americas best coach award by time magazine and cnn,1992 sporting news sportsman of the year and i quote"on the court and off,krzyzewski is a family man first,a teacher second,a basketball coach third and a winner at all three.he is what's right about sports...".his record in 1995 when he went for back surgery was 9-3.calhoun took 13 days off for prostrate cancer surgery.he returned after missing 5 games.i believe the ncaa decided that if a coach returns before year is over all of the games count. if it makes you feel better please take the liberty of including all of 1995 duke record with coach k's overall record.i won't bore you with the list of all the charitable work,community work,donation's for scholarship endowment at duke in the name of his brother frank a retired fireman in chicago,the graduation rates for his players and other facts that might cause you to respect the man.check the web like i did.you might learn something.in closing let me know if you would like to wager 1000 dollars that any team from texas goes farther in ncaas this yr than duke.the winner can donate to their favorite charity.

I told this story before here awhile back.When Coach K was the head coach at Army[and that had a bad record] our NY coaches assoc asked him to talk at a local HS.
Coach K always said "yes" to anything we asked him.A coaches retirement dinner,refs retiring,etc Any HS coach could come to any Army practice,etc,etc
Well out clinic was on a Sunday morning.Sat nite we had a ice storm and then a few inches of snow.The roads were still a problem and we knew many of the 100 coaches that planned to attend wouldn't come.We had no phone # to Coach K at the Point.We were going to cancel it.But we were so unprepared for bad weather we had no way in getting in touch with our own people and the Army staff.
About 8 coaches showed up at the steps of the HS.I figured we would just wait and hopefully coach K wouldn't risk driving down the mountain and not show up.
But he drove up with his Pete Guadet his asst and got out of the car.We aplogized about not being able to contact him to cancel.
But Coach said' there are 8 of you here,lets do it anyway."
And 8 of us got a 2 hour clinic on b-ball.
I have no problem with you not liking him,or whatever.But I'll never forget that Sunday morning.......

Yeah, no sure what Coach K ever did to make someone hate him so much (the crap you listed is mostly speculation or bias on your part) but give it a rest. He has built THE college basketball program in the United States and he's done it at one of the finer academic schools in the country. Coaches like him should be applauded and appreciated for what they have done. Underachieved?! LOL..yeah, he's really underachieved the past twenty years.

Apologize for what? Nothing I wrote is false. Others are opinions which we are all entitled to. If you disagree, good for you. If you people love him, great for you. I havent said anything personal about any of you now have I?

Box and One I respect you as you know and that is a fine response. I have never said he is a bad coach or a bad guy. Although we sure dont hear the publicity about the players who leave the program - some of these guys have "Knight-like stories" - which of course is no surprise since we know who he studied under. I do have some issues with some things he has done and his "I am above the rules" attitude and the national media's determination to keep their lips entrenched in his ass. Box, I could tell some similar stories about Bobby Knight, but most people wouldnt care about that now would they? Regardless that is a great story.

As for underachieving, is anyone going to seriously say with that talent he shouldnt have won more rings? Sure, it isnt Roy Williams like underachievement, and 3 rings is a very significant accomplishment. Last I heard Knight won 3, with a lot less talent I might add. I am sure all of you would get just as offended if I talked bad about him woulldnt you?
