I didn't have time to read the whole story but if it is true then I think it is a good thing. All though I thought it was the extra money in the pockets of the rich that was going to save the economy?

No, it is the extra money in everybody's pockets.

Why is the idea of keeping more of what you earn a bad thing?

I agree with you Stevie "If" it is true and I hope it is, then the people that deserve it most will benefit.

I am encouraged for now, but will have to check Mr Petz and his org out a little before I do any cartwheels:)

How about just doing away with Income Tax altogether and increase sale taxes with the exception of essentials like food. Also make payments for health insurance coverage eligable for write offs/deductions for both businesses and people. I'm no expert in regards to this but it seems more fair.

the only "fair" tax is if everyone paid the same amount....Mr. Forbes pays 1,000$, Mr. Gates pays 1,000$, Dr. Freeze pays 1,000$, Mr. Bumonthestreet pays 1,000$

that is a fair tax......and that is how brainwashed we are by the anti-success crowd

even a flat tax is unfair....the rich guy pays more than the poor guy just because he made money

now our tax system now is utterly ridiculous

Interesting, doc. I am not being sarcastic when I ask what you think that amount would be per person.

Is that man, woman, and child? What age do you start contributing?

Just curious. I always like to hear new ideas for taxes because I don't really care for our current situation. I don't think it is terrible, either.

i dunno....i think when starting the whole debate anytime on taxes people need to go back to square one and realize what exactly "fair" is....

instead you hear all this BS coming out of your politician's mouth about who benefits from who's plan.....we quickly lose perspective on what is fair and what is not

i pay the same price for gas as Bill Gates, I breathe the same air as Bill Gates, so why must he pay millions more in taxes than me?

seems like the rich are getting screwed....but that is never what you would hear out of a politicians mouth

I know that you have to be joking(well, if it was anybody else), but I guess i'll play along. How many millions of people would you figure would be in the 80-2000% tax bracket under your plan, Freeze? Unbelieveable.

no i am putting perspective on the whole debate....as already stated....because perspective is greatly skewed in the current debate as to what is fair and what is not

do you realize what kind of productivity our country would have if you were only taxed a certain fixed number not based on your income?

our economy would boom like never before....just think of the incentive to be innovative

Don't think there is a cut and dried solution. Sales tax appears the fairest where the more you make the bigger toys you buy the more your taxes are and it would alleviate most cheating and non-payment of taxes.--but sure would put a lot of people on unemployment line--accountants-IRS just to name a few.

If I pay the same amount of tax as Bill Gates that is fair???????? No what is fair if it is the same percentage of gross income or a flat sales tax. If you spending more on certain items like say a Lexus instead of a Toyota Pick-up then you end up paying more taxes. THAT is fair. Bill Gates and I each paying the same exact amount, be it $1000 or $5000 is hardly fair. Unless under a Sales Tax format he never bought anything and used his money to expand his business (more jobs) or gave it away to charity.

I guess Doc could have it right. We all pay the same. But then of course we all get the same pay. Sounds a lot like old Russia.
