With all due respect Chad your talking about 4 times the debt in 100days than past eight years.

if you remember I was on GW ass about the Medicare RX (social program) numerous times.

Did you here his 4 pilliars-rhetoric on saving economy--you find it odd it is same exact agenda he hade when campaigning before meltdown--how ironic it now fits his economic fix--healthcare-education--carbon taxes--social programs-someone enlighten me how these stimulate economy--I give you several paragraphs how they kill economy.

Now ask yourself which is more logical--these must be done immediately to save economy--or must be done immediately before 2011 elections and he loses his majority congressional printing press?

Back to why no protest in last eight years--its one thing to spend money on wars-911-katrina--quite another to to increase debt more than all preseding admins combined in 1st 100 days--much on social agenda's for the deadbeats--and he hasn't touched healthcare-and carbon tax yet.

--I'll issue question again to anyone wanting to answer--which of these changes is anyone still biting on--and you can add the no pork/no washington insiders--public campaign fianacing
--and tune into cnbc and others and listen Obie telling you how he is for cuttiing deficit while adding a trillion a year
--telling you he's for cutting social programs--while expanding schips to those 400% above poverty-increasing food stamps-unemployment to include part time
--believe him when he tells you tax credits are tax cuts
--cheer when he tells you answer to ssn-medicare and medicade crisis--is adding another larger than the rest-
--and ask for "more please" when your cost of living inceases 50% over carbon taxes
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In fact tell us which promise he hasn't lied about and did the opposite --other than redistributing the wealth?
:0corn

Was glad to see cnn/msnbc have little coverage---has been and will be defined in ratings--of course duely noted --doubt most of Da Base watch any news :)

A freind dragooned me into attending the SA "Tea Party" which turned out more pleasant than I thought, due to the fun people watching. It was held in Alamo Square, infront of the Alamo you see below.

This chart shows me the CBO is being realistic about how long it's gonna take us to dig ourselves out of the financial sinkhole Bush left behind, regardless of who's in office.

-another liberal einstein--bush did it! :)

I'll pose same question everyone has avoided so far but in a little diff way--

Which one of these was GW responsible for-

Still waiting on rebuttal Trench :)

While you and fellow liberals are still drawing blanks--let me address your issue of it was GW faults-- We had had thread on who's fault it was incase you would like to add any insight--

How did we get into this Financial crisis?
http://www.madjacksports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=358028

Per GW and admin on freddie/fannie/banking

** 2001

April: The Administration's FY02 budget declares that the size of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is ?a potential problem,? because ?financial trouble of a large GSE could cause strong repercussions in financial markets, affecting Federally insured entities and economic activity.?

** 2002

May: The President calls for the disclosure and corporate governance principles contained in his 10-point plan for corporate responsibility to apply to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. (OMB Prompt Letter to OFHEO, 5/29/02)

** 2003

January: Freddie Mac announces it has to restate financial results for the previous three years.

February: The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) releases a report explaining that ?although investors perceive an implicit Federal guarantee of [GSE] obligations,? ?the government has provided no explicit legal backing for them.? As a consequence, unexpected problems at a GSE could immediately spread into financial sectors beyond the housing market. (?Systemic Risk: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Role of OFHEO,? OFHEO Report, 2/4/03)

September: Fannie Mae discloses SEC investigation and acknowledges OFHEO's review found earnings manipulations.

September: Treasury Secretary John Snow testifies before the House Financial Services Committee to recommend that Congress enact ?legislation to create a new Federal agency to regulate and supervise the financial activities of our housing-related government sponsored enterprises? and set prudent and appropriate minimum capital adequacy requirements.

October: Fannie Mae discloses $1.2 billion accounting error.

November: Council of the Economic Advisers (CEA) Chairman Greg Mankiw explains that any ?legislation to reform GSE regulation should empower the new regulator with sufficient strength and credibility to reduce systemic risk.? To reduce the potential for systemic instability, the regulator would have ?broad authority to set both risk-based and minimum capital standards? and ?receivership powers necessary to wind down the affairs of a troubled GSE.? (N. Gregory Mankiw, Remarks At The Conference Of State Bank Supervisors State Banking Summit And Leadership, 11/6/03)

** 2004

February: The President's FY05 Budget again highlights the risk posed by the explosive growth of the GSEs and their low levels of required capital, and called for creation of a new, world-class regulator: ?The Administration has determined that the safety and soundness regulators of the housing GSEs lack sufficient power and stature to meet their responsibilities, and therefore?should be replaced with a new strengthened regulator.? (2005 Budget Analytic Perspectives, pg. 83)

February: CEA Chairman Mankiw cautions Congress to ?not take [the financial market's] strength for granted.? Again, the call from the Administration was to reduce this risk by ?ensuring that the housing GSEs are overseen by an effective regulator.? (N. Gregory Mankiw, Op-Ed, ?Keeping Fannie And Freddie's House In Order,? Financial Times, 2/24/04)

June: Deputy Secretary of Treasury Samuel Bodman spotlights the risk posed by the GSEs and called for reform, saying ?We do not have a world-class system of supervision of the housing government sponsored enterprises (GSEs), even though the importance of the housing financial system that the GSEs serve demands the best in supervision to ensure the long-term vitality of that system. Therefore, the Administration has called for a new, first class, regulatory supervisor for the three housing GSEs: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banking System.? (Samuel Bodman, House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Testimony, 6/16/04)

** 2005

April: Treasury Secretary John Snow repeats his call for GSE reform, saying "Events that have transpired since I testified before this Committee in 2003 reinforce concerns over the systemic risks posed by the GSEs and further highlight the need for real GSE reform to ensure that our housing finance system remains a strong and vibrant source of funding for expanding homeownership opportunities in America? Half-measures will only exacerbate the risks to our financial system." (Secretary John W. Snow, "Testimony Before The U.S. House Financial Services Committee," 4/13/05)

** 2007

July: Two Bear Stearns hedge funds invested in mortgage securities collapse.

August: President Bush emphatically calls on Congress to pass a reform package for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, saying ?first things first when it comes to those two institutions. Congress needs to get them reformed, get them streamlined, get them focused, and then I will consider other options.? (President George W. Bush, Press Conference, The White House, 8/9/07)

September: RealtyTrac announces foreclosure filings up 243,000 in August ? up 115 percent from the year before.

September: Single-family existing home sales decreases 7.5 percent from the previous month ? the lowest level in nine years. Median sale price of existing homes fell six percent from the year before.

December: President Bush again warns Congress of the need to pass legislation reforming GSEs, saying ?These institutions provide liquidity in the mortgage market that benefits millions of homeowners, and it is vital they operate safely and operate soundly. So I've called on Congress to pass legislation that strengthens independent regulation of the GSEs ? and ensures they focus on their important housing mission. The GSE reform bill passed by the House earlier this year is a good start. But the Senate has not acted. And the United States Senate needs to pass this legislation soon.? (President George W. Bush, Discusses Housing, The White House, 12/6/07)

DTB --

When the Bush administration handed the keys to the Whitehouse to the Obama administration, they also handed them the following:

- A bill for 2 wars at a cost of more than $1 Trillion (with no exit strategy for either).
- A de-regulated economy in crisis the likes of which hasn't been seen since the Great Depression.
- A budget deficit of $762 Billion more than was handed to Bush by the Clinton administration.
- An obsolete and almost non-existent Energy policy that only a Texas Oil Man could love.
- A Healthcare crisis with skyrocketing costs that are killing both small businesses and large and nearly 50 million Americans with no coverage at all.

As far as your incessant denial of all empirical evidence over the cause and effect of the current state of the U.S. economy and our impending budget deficits goes, I can't help you with that. It's above my pay grade. ;)

Where it is real F ing COLD
These political forums are a waste of time. These right wingers are so irrational and ignorant. I don't know if it is denial or if they don't have the ability to think for themselves? Blaming Obama for all that is wrong right now is their rallying cry. They have had so many years to try to defend Bush that bashing Obama is like a breath of fresh air to them. What a bunch of sore losers the right wing has become. Place the blame on the DEMS for the mess we are in now. What a fucking joke.

Never saw so many racist gathering at so many places in my life. Lets make no mistake here this whole function was targeted towards the stupid and the racist of this country. So in essence Fox did a great job here. They prey on the obvious idiot and they created a fake news station to pull it off. DTB loves to put up Fox's ratings but when i explain to him that professional wrestling is the highest rated cable show on television he doesn't see the similarities. You have to love it. 9 out of ten of these racist will be getting a tax break but they are lured in because they are to stupid to realize it. Its all about the black man in office. Nothing more nothing less. these same douchebags sat silently just like DTB the last eight years and now since their sheppards pushed them into doing something about it now, instead of the last eight years and like the true sheep that they are, they got off of their fat asses and bought this bunch of bullshit. As Chad said "why would anyone want to bring attention to fiscal irresponsibility in which they created"?

BP - They're really just a microcosm of the current Republican party.

We're talking about a party whose titular head is Rush Limbaugh and whose leading voices seem to be Sarah Palin, Eric Cantor and Michele Bachmann.

I mean, seriously... WTF?

True conservatives must weep over the current state of the once Grand Old Party.

I think the Tea Parties were a good thing. The right to assemble and protest is very important. I find it unfortunate that so many who encouraged and support the people at these rallies then criticize those who peacefully assemble for other protests.

They are all good for the country.

Only a hardcore neocon sheep of a thinker fell for this con job. No sense lumping all Republican's with this farce. The true conservative republican who likes to see the country do well instead of only a certain few laughed this off. Smurph, i agree protest are fine with me except when people with an obvious dastardly agenda get involve and fool dopes into thinking they are looking out for them.

THere is some right and wrong here by everyone. But some true fact is there was a reason the Reb got there ears boxed in 2006 and 08. People were peed about how the REB were running the country. You don,t lose control of all congress and white house if your doing anything right. And I really think fox news at least in 08 helped turn off a chit load of voters and help the loss. And there back at in again. So post numbers. While your at it post the 70% that think Obama,s start. And what he,s trying to do is a effort that is/was needed. Except one poll that is always lower. I wonder if it has anything to do with being a Reb.
In any case any one think REB lost there way because of poor leadership you would be right.

Now we are making progress Trench--as we are getting into specifics that can be debated vs opinions.

Bush did hand him an exit strategy on Iraq--it wasn't the one O promised before he was elected--but was implemented almost verbadum after election.

Gw was also handed recession-dot.com (granted not the magnitude of this one) and had collapse of Enron and World.com (nboth filed bankruptcy not bailed out)--yet ran a surplus until 911 disaster.
O on other hand--in less than a 100 days--has added more debt than all former presidents combined.

on the healthcare--has continually spiraled upward--and every pres has ran on platform to curtail it--knowing their was no answer.

Now lets take a common sense look at O's answer. He's says spiraling cost of medicare and medicade are reaching perilous proportions and his answer is-- adding yet another--grand daddy of them all to the equation.

Can anyone think of one social program in our history that has been cost effective and not ran up huge amounts of red ink?--yet you believe that adding yet another is the answer because someone who has yet to fulfill a promise-tells you so?

There is one underlying fact that is undisputable.

All these "FREE" entitlements O is promoting are only free to the current 43% of population that pay no taxes--for the other 53% they will still be footing the bill on theirs plus the other 43%.

Thats called redistribution and depends on which side of fence your on--whether its a benefit or liabilty.

Why is the line they pay no taxes so not 100% truth. Everyone knows If you work there is tax taken from you each pay day.
Why to Reb want to go back to Bush,s first term where he did not do very good job either. But blame Bill for leaving him a surplus.
LIke I said above REB,s took beating in 06 and 08 for a reason. THey did bad job running the country.
WE will know with in 2/3 years how Dem,s do. And if we need another big change.
But if REb don,t want to stand upfor there failures last 4 years. And don,t get better leader ship then Rush and Fox news. THere Dead.
