I didn't play this game because as you know Iona is one of those Jeckyl/Hyde MAAC teams and St. Peter's seems to have improved of late: I felt 12.5 was just too many to ask Iona to cover. I'm also leery of those home-home match-ups where the home team won big in the first game on the road.

I remember their previous match-up pretty well. This was Iona's Leland Norris' big game: he scored a career high 22 and then left the team a few games later. St. Peter's just could not hit anything; they were 16-68 (23%) from the field including 0-16 from the arc.

I think Coach Ruland had Iona pretty pumped up to play that last game, Iona was coming off two disappointing MAAC losses, 69-58 to Manhattan in the finals of the Holiday Festival tournament at MSG and a 79-70 overtime loss to Siena in New Rochelle.

St. Peter's is playing better of late; in their recent three game road trek they were 3-0 ATS at Manhattan, Rider and Canisius. In their L5, St. Peter's has hit 38% of their shots from 3 points while allowing their opponents to shoot only 24% from the arc.

Iona is 3-5 ATS at home while St. Peter's is 4-2-2 ATS on the road.

Iona has won ten games this season so far but has beaten only one team by 12.5 or more: St. Peter's.

I just don't see Ruland getting his team pumped up for this game like he did for the recent game at Manhattan. He'll save that for Iona's home game vs Marist on Thursday and the re-match at Manhattan in a couple of weeks.

There's no question that Iona has the better team but without the motivation I'd lean to St. Peter's and the points here.

I'd be interested in what Bear and Box And One have to say about this one, they also follow the MAAC very closely.

Crib -- yes and if Ruland is really getting his team up for this game that could change my opinion on Iona.

But FWIW my bets are already in.

I made a very very small play on St. Peter's +13.

I also went with Loyola and the points over Marist. I was on the fence on this one but if Box and one likes Loyola that's enough for me. I think Box & one lives near Poughkeepsie and he seems to know a lot about Marist. Again a very very small play.

And I hear you re: riding the Rider wave. They've won 8 of their L10 SU and covered in 6 of their L9.

But of those eight wins, three were by 20+ and the other five by an average of four (6,4,4,3,3). The wins by 20+ were against much weaker opponents: St. Peter's, Loyola-Maryland and Lafayette. Niagara is certainly better than those three, so hopefully this game is within the "win by four" category.

I'll give Rider the win if you give Niagara the backdoor cover.:)

Between you, Hellah and Goat we've got some real MAC gurus on this board. With your collective expertise should be able to hit 75% in the MAC. :D

I grew up in Cincinnati so I have a affinity for the MAC, I just don't know the teams as well as you guys.

Good luck today, there's a better card tomorrow. Between the two of us we should have a couple of winners.

FWIW, my big $$$ today is on Jermaine Wiggins total receptions Over 1.5.

All the best.

Superbook and cribs,Marist is tough. When you have a great pt gd in kennedy,Magarrity makes him handle the ball 60% of the time. That cuts on TO's from the other players.marist is so much better the Loy.
On paper don't even look at the stat sheets.marist is on top of every catogory and Loy on the bottom in the MAAC.Ft's FG%,etc, etc. They already beat them by 14 up here last week.
It's just a small play for Loy at home. They have kept it close at home with other teams. But Maggarity has their number because he has beaten them bad the past couple of yrs.
Not a big play because if marist wins by 15 it was expected. But I'm 3-0 with this poor ass Fg%,FT shooting,no defense.[they give up 70 pts a game and score 58]
They also shoot 28% from the arc.stop,no more.Everyone is pounding marist after this write up.ha

Iona needs to check in to bellvue hospital.Thats a pscho hosp in NYC.
Who knows what shows up.Ruland doesn't thats for sure.Iona hasen't beaten anyone by 13 pts this yr.st peters and loy are even in every catogory. And its the bottom of the conf.
I'm not sure if Iona could beat new rochelle hs down the block by 13.They would win but maybe not cover.Iona has enough talent to win and cover but again they have no shooters but woffard.Play zone, double Fields when he gets the ball, and match a big gd on woffard who is a heavy midget.
