After President Barack Obama's surprise visit to the White House briefing room Tuesday, press secretary Robert Gibbs took back the mic with a show-stealing joke at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's expense.
"I wrote a few things down," Gibbs began, showing reporters that he had some scrawled notes on his left palm ? a clear reference to Palin's makeshift cheat-sheet at the National Tea Party Convention last weekend.
"I wrote eggs, milk, bread," Gibbs joked, adding that he crossed out "bread" and "wrote down hope and change in case I forgot."
In her speech to conservative activists in Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday, Palin was captured on camera with notes for her speech written on her hand, including the words "budget cuts" crossed out and replaced with "tax" cuts.
