Crompton - Yeh I am going to in about
10 minutes.

What do you want from me now ?

KOD - Well first things first. There is a elephant in the room and we need to address that.
What do you think when the Alabama team calls you Crapton ?

Crompton - They are calling me that ?

KOD - Yeh and worse. They said a few things about your mom too.

Crompton - well I will show them my skills this Saturday afternoon. I will leave it on the field.

KOD - OK good answer.

Crompton - The guy is a stud. I am almost afraid he will knock me down when I hand off the ball to him. He rocked Georgia and will rock Alabama too.

KOD - What is the teams attitude this week ?

Crompton - We are going in there and
shock and awe. We are going to surprise them with our defense and lull them to sleep.

KOD - what about Kiffin fawking with their recruits ?

Crompton - Its a non issue, everyone does it. No one really cares that much once the season starts, you have who you got.

KOD - When it comes down to it what is your feeling about this weekends game in Alabama.

Thanks for the Memories

:scared Whoa! I don't know why I don't remember your 2008 Superbowl post. Over 20k won on that one Superbowl??? Dude, you're like the greatest capper on these boards! If it were me, I would have put 2653 on the ML that way if the Giants covered but lost then I would have broken even instead of being down a little. Of course, if you wanna win big you gotta take chances and you seem to be the expert on high risk high reward bets....:box2:

While leading Alabama back to a No. 1 ranking, running back Mark Ingram has pushed himself into the Heisman Trophy picture. His candidacy would take a substantial hit if Tennessee can contain him again. :SIB

After beating No. 22 South Carolina 20-6 last Saturday, Alabama (7-0, 4-0) jumped Florida to claim the top spot in the poll for the first time since Nov. 30 --

Though Alabama's ranked first in the poll, it's still second behind Florida in the initial BCS standings.

The sophomore piled up 246 yards in the win over the Gamecocks to register the third-best rushing performance in school history and set a career high for the second time in as many weeks.

"Mark did as fine a job today as anybody I've ever been around, and that includes Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown and some really good ones," coach Nick Saban said. "He was fantastic." :SIB

Ingram, who scored the game's only offensive touchdown last week, had 172 yards at Mississippi on Oct. 10. Those performances have boosted his rushing average to 129.3 yards, fourth best in the Football Bowl Subdivision and tops in the SEC.

Ingram has run for at least one touchdown in each of Alabama's seven games while compiling 905 yards, 173 more than he had in 14 games as a freshman. Ingram also hasn't lost a fumble in 304 career touches.

"He's just as good as anyone in the country," quarterback Greg McElroy said. "I wouldn't trade him for anyone."

While he had a night to remember last week, Ingram was held to a career-low 1 yard on four carries last season against Tennessee (3-3, 1-2). He also nearly had a fumble returned for a 47-yard touchdown, but he was ruled down. :scared

They will likely earn that victory if their defense continues to excel. Alabama gives up the second-fewest scrimmage yards per game in the FBS at 228.7 and the fourth-fewest points per game at 11.6. It also leads the SEC with 21 sacks and 10 interceptions.

Alabama, however, has three defensive players dealing with nagging injuries in cornerback/return man Javier Arenas (bruised ribs), defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick (back spasms) and nose guard Josh Chapman (abdominal strain). Arenas and Chapman missed last week's win. kurby :sadwave: :director:

The Crimson Tide will face a Tennessee team that's well-rested after a 45-19 rout of visiting Georgia on Oct. 10, its first SEC win under first-year coach Lane Kiffin.

Jonathan Crompton led the way by completing 20 of 27 passes for a career-high 310 yards and four touchdowns. The Volunteers finished with 472 yards, their highest total since they put up 657 in a season-opening win over Western Kentucky. They've gained more yards in each game since totaling 208 in a 19-15 loss to UCLA on Sept. 12.

In the past three games, Crompton has averaged 264 yards with eight TDs and two interceptions after averaging 93 yards with no touchdowns and five picks in consecutive defeats to the Bruins and Gators.

"That's winning football," Kiffin said. "It's good to see him making good decisions. We just have to make plays for him."

Until Crompton's breakout performance, Tennessee's most reliable offensive threat was senior running back Montario Hardesty, who has run for a touchdown in each game this season and totaled 694 yards.

Hardesty ranks 12th in the FBS and fourth in the SEC with 112.0 yards per game.

All this talk about INgram plays right into the defensive line of the Tennessee team.

Heisman this Heisman that. Walk the walk and talk the talk. OK then lets play some rocky top football Mr Heisman.

The number one goal will be to shut Ingram down
When that happens it puts pressure on the QB to play well and I have my doubts at times about
MacElroy .

Of course Alabama has the same game plan for Tennessee. Shut down Hardesty and Crompton has to step up. This should be a good game.

Spurrier asks SEC if tape trick legalComment Email Print Share Associated Press

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said Alabama used some tape trickery to spot field goals and extra points last weekend and is asking the Southeastern Conference if that is legal.

While reviewing video of the Gamecocks' (No. 24 BCS, No. 23 AP) loss, Spurrier said Tuesday that it looked as if the Crimson Tide holder had put a small piece of white tape on the ground to spot PATs and field goals.

"I thought you just had to put it on the ground. But they had a little piece of white tape or something, and I looked at it on tape and I said, 'What's that little piece of white there?' Then after the guy kicked it he grabbed it and put it back in his pocket," Spurrier said.

SEC officials received a formal complaint from South Carolina officials Tuesday and are looking into the matter, league spokesman Charles Bloom said.

Alabama officials said its coaches have been reminded of the rule on placekicks.

Crimson Tide kicker Leigh Tiffin hit both extra points and field goals of 25 and 35 yards Saturday in the 20-6 victory. He also missed a 49-yarder. The senior is 9-of-11 on field goals and 21-of-23 on PATs this season.

Spurrier said he has no idea if what he thinks happened is legal.

"I've never seen that before," Spurrier said. "But I'm sure they've probably been doing it all year."

The NCAA football rulebook (Rule 6-3; Article 10; subsection d) says:

"Any device or material used to mark the spot of a scrimmage place kick or elevate the ball makes the kick illegal."

The penalty is "illegal kick" and is five yards from the previous spot.

2. Alabama Crimson Tide

Greg McElroy needs to revert to early-season form. The first-year starter was very impressive in the first month of the season, looking sharp working the play-action passing game and displaying a real knack for throwing the deep ball.

However, he has appeared out of sync in Bama's past two games, against two of the SEC's better defenses (Ole Miss and South Carolina). At times, he's forced the ball into heavy coverage to try to involve star WR Julio Jones. McElroy also acknowledged that Carolina did an effective job of disguising its coverages on him. He is just 25-of-54 (46 percent) with two interceptions, zero touchdowns and a long pass play of just 22 yards in those past two contests. (In the previous five games, he completed 66 percent of his passes and had a 9-1 TD-INT ratio.) :scared

Thanks I like that thinking because that means this play has a good chance of winning.

I would get out of my dicipline if I play the moneyline now. It will take away from what I am trying to do with this play.

gl and GO ROCKY TOP !

PS - I heard a rumor that they are going to let Tenn wear Orange this Saturday ?

not sure though

Tennessee

In Total Defense, Tennessee sits at third in the league behind Alabama and Florida. This is the best defense Alabama will have faced for the season. The Vols ranks third in rushing defense and fifth in pass defense in the SEC.

The Tennessee defense has only five interceptions in six games and holds a turnover margin of minus two. They rank 5th in pass defense efficiency and are tied with Mississippi State, next to last, in quarterback sacks (10).

The Volunteer defense is led by senior linebacker Rico McCoy (29 tackles, 24 assists) and junior DB Eric Berry (35 tackles, 15 assists). Together they combine for a whopping 103 tackles and assists in the first six games.

Defensive end Chris Walker has recorded four sacks in six games. He leads the defensive front in quarterback pressures and takedowns and is tied for third in the league. He also ranks 11th in the league in TFL, with five solo and one assist.

Remarkably, Walker leads the Vols with two interceptions, only one behind league leader Mark Barron (UA). Monte Kiffin moves this man-child around the field from the DE position much like an NFL defender. He has responded to the great teacher.

As a unit, the Kiffin taught defenders have held the opposition to an average of less than 275 yards of combined offense per game. Against their toughest opponent in the first half of the season, they held the No. 1 Florida Gators to 208 yd rushing and 115 yd passing. The Gators were held scoreless in the 4th quarter.

Penalties, Time of Possession and Special Teams

The Volunteers rate first in penalties against. They are the least penalized team in the conference having the yellow flag thrown their way only 25 time in six games for 191 penalty yards (32.8 yd/game).
