I was there!!! The fans all gasp and you could just hear a collective "Oh my God!" The video catches his elevation, then he just hung in the air and SLAM. This is the first time we've seen him really take off, and hopefully we see many more.

his leaps to the top of the backboard remind me of watching 6'4" David Thompson do the same thing at nc state 45 years ago, except he would jump up and put a quarter on top of the backboard, come down, back up a few steps and then jump back up and pull it back down. haven't seen anyone else with a vertical leap to match that until now.

that's pretty cool but not exactly the same as vertical leap. Thompson's was somewhere in the mid forties (inches). as a recall, when he came in his freshman year, the track coach recruited Thompson to come out after the basketball season and try to learn how to triple jump. he did, and in his first year of competition set a new acc record.
