Marquee game in the Majors tonight with arguably the 2 best pitchers in baseball doing battle. Think they will cancel each other out so I'm looking for other angles when capping this game. Seems like Texas has a few more intangibles going for them so my "Hard Earned" $$$ is on the Rangers tonight. My take:
Detroit Tigers-Have gone 3-5 in their last 8 games & are just 4-4 in Verlander's starts this year. Tigers have lost 6 out of the last 7 meetings against the Rangers & are 9-9* away from home so far this season.
Texas Rangers-Have won 9 of their last 12 games & are 7-1 when Darvish is on the mound. They are 11-4* @ home where their Bullpen has given up just 9 runs in 42 innings of work(1.70ERA). BIG advantage for the Rangers in the late innings.
Interesting that a team coming of a series against the Houston Astros has lost it's next game 8 out of 12 times this year. Both Detroit(swept the Astros earlier this month) & Texas(took 3 out of 3 from Houston 5/10 thru 5/12) lost the first game in their next series. The Detroit Tigers fit that mold tonight. I guess when you play against the worst Major League team in recent memory, your game suffers as well.
*-Should be HUGE advantage for Texas playing in front of the home crowd tonight in this much anticipated match-up. Will be ROWDY in Arlington tonight!!!:yup
