Rivalry now in the Sec not the southwest conference must win for AM after Auburn loss because if they lose there out of College Playoffs . Texas doesn't have as much pressure at the Aggies but still needs to win so its not left up to a committee Old Rivalry and the last time these two met everyone on the field the players were about 7 or 8 yrs old. But the two standouts of Texas college football Both hate each other and go after the same HS blue chip players in the state. I always remember my daughter's 1st telephone call as she became a freshman at Texas. She said the Freshman orientation at UT was in the stadium A guy by the name of Ricky Williams spoke to the 25,000 incoming freshman and it was night . The Stadium over looked the state capital and the Texas Tower was lite up Orange. My daughter said she hates Okies and Aggies" " Im not sure why but having been in Austin 3 days I'm already brainwashed. I laughed when she said " what's an Aggie". ? Being from upstate NY she had no idea of the hate and rivalry between these two schools . And this was my oldest daughter who also said she wasn't going to get into the " hoopla" and etc of athletics of Texas. She had been in Austin 3 days and she was already been. brainwashed Its the biggest game here in Texas since they haven't played each other in years.
I have also Ben somewhat brain washed and am Taking Texas -5.5 over AM
I have tried to handicapp the game being neutral but with all the radio, TV and newspapers hysteria its hard .
Both QB are not 100% and AM's QB Reed is slippery and dangerous, Ewers is limping but Manning is ready to take his place Texas Defense is awesome. Think this game will be decided by the Texas off line . Think both lines have 3 or 4 NFL players next year Off line and how they handle the AM DL to me is the key. Everyone looks at the Texas offense with Ewers and Manning . But I think the Texas D has so much speed and athletes and it gives the Longhorns an edge. TEx Am has more pressure because if they lose they are out of the Playoffs. Texas can lose and still has a good shot at the Playoffs but again the decision will be left to a committee AM playing at home at night will be a crazy environment but think the Longhorns can handle the crowd. AM's QB scares me because he can run out of trouble BUt think Sark has a def schemes to keep him in check . Think the Longhorns win this by a TD and send the Aggies back to College Station Kind of a " homer" pick for me since I've been in Texas for a few years and when your reading the newspapers everyday and listening to the radio and TV and playing racquetball everyday with Longhorn fans and next door neighbors Its tough trying to look at this from a neutral position. I go back to my daughter as an 18 yr old freshman calling me and asking me " why do I hate Aggies and what is an Aggie"?
Texas -5- over Texas Am ****
