Very interesting match-up. Last year was the first time I ever lost this game when I had a very large play on Texas Tech. Will be very interested to see the number. I am a bit concerned about the status of Jamal Charles, but Texas will roll this year. Tech's numbers are deceiving. They are actually worse on both sides of the ball than last year and Texas is improved on both sides - last year Texas won by 31 in Lubbock.

I hate the chalk, but Texas is going to roll.

Well, at least we agree on this topic.

Texas will rout these guys.

T Tech still hasn't played anyone all year.

Nebraska was their toughest game, and they almost lost.

NO WAY do they stand a chance against Texas with or without Charles.

But the line should be interesting.

The Red Raiders are holding on to hope that Dwayne Slay gets just one shot at Vince.

I thought it was interesting to see Vince throw as much as he did yesterday and without a shadow of a doubt, that's the best I've ever seen him look.

If Texas sticks to the run, we are in big trouble. Our D gets progressively worse from back to front.

Offensively I think we go into the proverbial 'bag-o-tricks' an I'll be damned if we don't see the Red Raiders break out the option at least once against the Longhorns. At least we've been working on it in practice.

Just 2 years ago we came in to Austin Double-digit dogs and until Mock came in to find a wide open Roy Williams (how do you lose track of that guy) with 2 minutes left, it looked like the Red Raiders had pulled off the upset.

Last year, just like you I thought, Lubbock at night. Vince Young made a believer out of me.

A win in Austin this year would amount to climbing a small mountain like Everest but the one thing I like about this game is the fact that we have absolutely nothing to lose.

As for this week, I will probably keep my Red & Black colored glasses on, but I do look forward to your write up.

Going in to yesterday's game, Texas had the No. 2 running game in the nation and Mack choose to abandon it in favor of a spectacular passing attack. In the process, Vince silenced those who have harped about his passing ability.

Tech does not have the personell to stop either and next week they will be facing the best defense (by far) that they have seen this season.

Texas will beat a Top 10 Tech team by 24 points.

The best game in Cody Hodges' career helped No. 13 Texas Tech get off to its best start since 1998.

Hodges, who left the game with 4:48 remaining, threw for 643 yards and five touchdowns to help the Red Raiders beat Kansas State 59-20 on Saturday. The major college record for yards passing in a game is 716 by Houston's David Klingler in 1990.

Hodges' yardage is the fourth highest ever in Division I-A and the second time in two years a Tech quarterback has thrown for more than 600 yards. In 2003, B.J. Symons threw for 661 yards against Mississippi.

Hodges completed 44-of-65 passes and threw two interceptions. He threw TD passes of 34, 20, 21, 3 and 39 yards.

Hodges, however, wasn't focused on his 643 yards.

The Red Raiders (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) had four receivers with more than 100 yards.

You got five decent reasons Tech can stay with Texas.

1. Charles' health. Selvin has been bad in big games and aside from being nowhere near the back Charles is, he also fumbles.

2. Tech Wideouts. These guys are pretty good. Will be interesting to see how Texas DB's play against them as they have not seen this talent yet.

3. Tech has its best defense in the leach era, although it is slightly better than mediocre and probably not as good as the OU defense which Texas could have put up 60 against (mainly because of the OU offense though)

4. Blowout last year makes me think a blowout this year is less likely. Tech was already counting their victory last year when they go their butts kicked. They will be taking a better approach this year but with similar confidence level.

5. Coach Mack. He blew it when severely outclassing Tech in years past, and you cant put it past him blowing it again.

Reasons why this might get ugly:
1. Young --perhaps the best raw talent in the history of college football.
2. Texas linemen might manhandle Tech.

Personally, i think Tech plays a good game and that Texas will have its hands full. I think Leach will probably have some good talks around the big 12 in particular with one guy up in Norman on how to game plan this week and that his athletic receivers make some plays.

Tech is terrible on defense. The idea that it is a good defense is a charade. Tech gets a big boost if Charles isnt a go, but they arent going to stop Texas. Moreover, Horns are hearing the East Coast talk and know they have to win big to impress.

Tech's wideouts arent any better than what they have had before. Overall they are at best equal to last year, and have a QB that is not as good. And the running game is the worst they have ever had.I would be very surprised if Hodges makes it through the whole game.

That said the line is far above what I expected. Going to be an opinion only for me.

I think Jamaal Charles is the key here. Without a doubt, Texas has a big advantage in the trenches.
I'm still not sold on Vince Young's arm and he'll be facing a slightly better(yet still very mediocre) Defense vs Tech this weekend.
Leach's spread offense is a great equalizer, IMO. It keeps Texas "small" on the defensive side and on their heels.
Tech wont stop Texas' offense. Can Texas stop Tech?

If the line hits UT-20, I'm taking the Flying Tortillas. :)

You not going to play this only as a opinion game tells me that you are unsure Texas can win by 17 points. And I know that you would not play TT and the points.

Kinda homer wagering.

Winning play seems easy to me even at this early stage.
