Yahoo had a story a couple of days ago about the dramatic rise in car crashes over the last year.

90% of the comments mentioned phones.

I see these dipshits every day driving down the highway. You can see them weaving just like a drunk driver, and you get up to them, and they are staring into their lap texting away.

lady with a cell phone t-boned me about 10 years ago.....totalled my nissan pathfinder...i was lucky i was in such a heavy vehicle and that she didn`t make a direct hit on the driver`s door...

hard to believe that people are messing around with cell phones while steering a 2000+ pound hunk of metal..

I recently caught myself reading incoming emails and texts on my phone while on the road, so I now leave my ringer off full time.

I am too old to even understand texting never mind do it while driving.

I have a hard enough time keeping the car straight while changing the radio station.

Exactly. So imagine if you had to punch in the title of the song you wanted to hear. Do you think there might be a slight issue?

I don't understand the need of constantly being in touch with people? What is being said in a text that is so important that it can't wait until I get where I am going?

Constant texting is one of the most annoying things, ever. We have people who come over to our house and their faces are permanently planted in their smartphones, checking email and texts. Why did you even bother to come over?? Constantly being in touch electronically is actually causing people to be out of touch with REAL people, because they can't live in the moment, face-to-face.

People get frustrated with me because I don't reply to texts right away, and my voicemail says something along the lines of - "I don't really answer my phone very much, so if you need something, email me." I check my voicemails once or twice a year... I guess if somebody really needs to talk to me, they can come and find me.
