They were also slave owners...

your point?

What do you think my point is? They designed the greatest civilization ever known to this world and looks like they get their inspiration from the same God from whom people you fear do.

And none of this is ever discussed of course because the left wing establishment would just as soon erase all known record of this -- that or discredit anything they did with "they were slave owners" line.

Good grief, so was the rest of the civilized world.

And guess which country cleared the way to eliminate such practice from our earth and is still doing it today.

"the bunker"
i understand the separation of church and state...it makes sense...look at iran....

but, it`s silly to ignore that this country was founded on judeo/christian ethic....

we`ve done quite well up to now...why groups like the aclu want to turn us into "europe west" is beyond me...

a little common sense would do nicely....

taking crosses off of state seals...taking all crosses off federal property...is a little extreme, wouldn`t you say?

this would be tough to accomplish in some instances...

Smurph-- list was from 2000 census data I'll see if I can retrieve link for you.
Stevie Not saying that at all--I would say those on extreme left would be more apt to be anti religion--as well as those on far right being too pro religious in politics. I like happy medium.case in point while the demographics above dictate .4% of population being athiests you have have ACLU in their "for the people" assualt coming up with this BS--

Prayer Punishment

The ACLU (search) has asked a federal judge to punish school officials for allowing a pre-game prayer at a high school baseball game. Louisiana's ACLU director called the brief prayer for player safety "un-American and immoral" and says that school board members should be fined or jailed for failing to stop it.

Last month a Louisiana judge ruled against the same school board for letting an elementary school student recite the Lord's Prayer before a meeting. That ruling has been denounced by Louisiana's Democratic Governor, Kathleen Blanco (search) and is being appealed.

ivabign - Great posts.

NeoCons - There is this little thing called Freedom Of Religion. The "Congress shall make no law...", etc. Check it out sometime and actually THINK about what it means.

There are lot's of laws about freedom. Problem is some don't like one interpolation from another. But religion can stay out of government. Or is it called separation of Church and government. Is that a play on words. Could be, or our fathers remembered how the Church in England, France and Italy interfered. Not sure but like said above. ACLU not much liked by many. But when needed for there caused all sides embrace them.

You don't have to go very far on the bill of rights (the very 1st amendment)--

Bill of Rights
Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Not tell me about your ACLU protecting rights vs assualting them.
