so we never should have come to the aid of Kuwait back in the early 90's, right?

This is exactly why this topic has gone where it has. Yoiu believe we went to help Kuwait. :mj07: :mj07: Do you also believe the Iraqi's were tossing baby's out of incubators like it was reported and then found out to be utter bullshit. Bullshit to get us all ginned up to support Bush Sr. and these despicable neocon assholes. This is so fuking naive thinking only a total jackass would believe this nonsense. Just like being a pawn in a rich man's game. When u are simply this naive u can be push into buying any hunk of shit our gov't wants to sell ya. Good fuking grief.

Marines may be brave, Marines may be patriotic. But nobody ever claimed Marines are bright.

So lighten up on Gomer Pyle, eh, Sponge?

It is correct. My final tour in the military I was a recruiter for the Officer Programs.

So yes, I have seen the high quality, and very intelligent individuals that join the military, first hand.

No one is asking you to say thank you to the troops. We'll be more than delighted if you just shut your mouth and went on with your life instead of calling us all idiots simply because you don't understand it.

Here, I took the liberty to produce another item for you to use as fodder to continue insisting military members are idiots.

Are you serious? No wonder he has no fucking soul.

For what it's worth, I've been a recruiter in "Corporate America" for a number of years now since leaving active duty.

My soul is blacker now than it ever was in the military. Dealing with certain masses of "regular people" leaves me with feelings that our country is doomed and that leadership, and personal responsibility and accountability is a myth.

Wrong, I believe that we went there to aid Kuwait in order to protect our, and the world's, interests in that region.

It wasn't because we wanted to save Kuwait - the primary motivator was to protect the resources in the region.

FWIW Marine, I think the U.S. has the finest military the world has ever known. My beef is and always has been with our policy makers, not our military.

As for Kuwait, it's true that we went in to protect our oil interests, but as I said, Saddam Hussein never would have made the miscalculation that we would not interfere in his affairs had we not spent more than a decade coddling him and arming his military.

correct.. at the time he was the lesser of the evils in the area though.. hence the reason to align with him..

we wanted to make sure that Iran did't get overly giddy and overstep their bounds.

I don't think anyone doubts the force of our military. My point is that people who join up these days, are simply being used.

Just a side note. I had a dinner with a woman who served in Afghanistan tonight. She said that she actually saw a woman while out shopping who was from Afghanistan. Once the Afghan found out that she was a soldier, she invited her to stay in her home if she ever goes back to Afghanistan. The soldier was very proud and said see there is someone who loves us. My response was of course she wants you in her home. The odds of her home being bombed by the US Military would go down exponentially. :mj07:

If anyone ever doubted what at utter douche you were and are, this post should remove any bit of doubt.

"America. Just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable." -Hunter S. Thompson

Yep, those darn anybodys that took down the Towers,Sunk ships off our coast with Uboats, suicide bombed embassys-Planes-Ships-etc,oh and that little thing in 41' called Pearl Harbor...

Yes, that's true. Young men have always died in wars started by old men. But the vast majority of young men join the military with good intentions and geo-politics don't factor into their decision. In most cases, enlistees do not know if and when they'll be placed in harms way. On the other hand, our policy makers deserve our contempt and our wrath for putting young Americans in harms way for the wrong reasons, time and time again.

.......................................................................

my nephew just finished pt at fort bragg.

They told him when he joined that he could be trained in computers and use that for his career.

I tried to explain to him that it would not happen.

In December he is being sent to Afghanistan.

Just have to hope for the best now.

Fucking recruiter. I recall in high school that some guy that was sent to Iraq during the first war came to my English class and talked to us about his situation(I know some of you have never taken an English class but I swear this is true). He went on to cuss many times about how messed up the military was and to never sign an open contract. He said they will fuck you every time.
