.......................................................................

my nephew just finished pt at fort bragg.

They told him when he joined that he could be trained in computers and use that for his career.

I tried to explain to him that it would not happen.

In December he is being sent to Afghanistan.

Just have to hope for the best now.

What is his MOS?

In all honesty, there's no way to know what happened here with him.

Sounds like he didn't enlist to be working on computers.

During my time recruiting, I found consistently, that I could sit down and explain something to a potential recruit, and 5 minutes later ask them to repeat back to me what I told them and they could rarely do it with accuracy.

Here's an example - and I swear to christ it really happened..

I explained to a kid what the requirements where, and what the testing was and the marks he needed to be competitive to get a slot to be a pilot and from there what flight school entailed and the different platforms that he could be assigned to based on his scores throughout training.

10 minutes later he was asking me - "so if I sign up right now, I can get guaranteed to fly F/A-18's, right?"

Some people just want to join and don't care what they do, and will tell mom and dad whatever it is they need to hear to approve of their kid joining the service.

Others want specific jobs and will only join up if they can get that job.

Each person is different.

I stand corrected. What was I thinking calling these kids idiots? I'm sorry. My mistake.

Teenager - Can I be a pilot and fly the Stealth bombers

Recruiter - Sure you can son, you can be in stealth mode.

Teenager - Well what do I have to do to be a pilot then ?

Recruiter - Sign your name right here son. Sign your name right here.

Teenager signs and walks out with a dream.

Recruiter - Rolls on the floor laughing. Ahhhhhaaa

Stealth pilot ........hahahhahahah

we are debating :mj07:

Your not debating--your doing the ole Freudian # 233

Your trying to diss those that serve/with courage and valor--to justify your cowardly ways in your own mind..

Live with it--you know who/what you are --as does everyone else.

English please.

I have no problem living with my values, do you? Maybe there will be a judgement day for you? Be careful.

Wish I knew how to do the poll thing.

I'd like to have one for Independence Day for our forum anti military pack to see how the 4th ranks in terms of disgust for them --compared to Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

Or maybe expand it to include all national holidays--I see 2 they might support. :SIB

<TABLE class=calendar border=1 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=3 width="75%"><TBODY><TR class=bluerow><TD>Friday, December 31, 2010*</TD><TD>New Year?s Day</TD></TR><TR><TD>Monday, January 17</TD><TD>Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.</TD></TR><TR class=bluerow><TD>Monday, February 21**</TD><TD>Washington?s Birthday</TD></TR><TR><TD>Monday, May 30</TD><TD>Memorial Day</TD></TR><TR class=bluerow><TD>Monday, July 4</TD><TD>Independence Day</TD></TR><TR><TD>Monday, September 5</TD><TD>Labor Day</TD></TR><TR class=bluerow><TD>Monday, October 10</TD><TD>Columbus Day</TD></TR><TR><TD>Friday, November 11</TD><TD>Veterans Day</TD></TR><TR class=bluerow><TD>Thursday, November 24</TD><TD>Thanksgiving Day</TD></TR><TR><TD>Monday, December 26***</TD><TD>Christmas Day</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Of course if our ancestors shared their lack of values/character traits-
-we wouldn't be having this discussion nor majority of our holidays.
