"...Quo fas et gloria ducunt..."
it's time.....for a dukefest!!!

seeing as how i like to travel....ok, USED to travel....

what would be your vote as the best, gosh darn city to live in, in the good 'ol US of A?

take into account

1) population density (ie: NO TRAFFIC GRIDLOCKS FROM 6am til 7pm!!!!!)

2) city cleanliness ( i have a touch of hepatitis q....???)

3) unemployment rate
( hey, i always wanted that dung tasting job...)

4) cost of living

5) GIRLIES!!!!!! ahem, i mean, chicks.

6) and things to do...entertainment value.

7) could you live where you are, for the rest of your life?

ROUND ONE, FIGHT!!!

let the flaming begin!!!!!

If I had to move to the USA I would go to Either Naples, Florida (exclusive lifestyle, HUGE homes and very affluent city) or
Austin, Texas (chicks, chicks, and chicks)

In all seriousness, Austin Texas would be my choice, I have heard many great things about the city.

You will get many different answers Chris.

Cheers

I'd have to go with right here in Nashville, Tennessee...or maybe Knoxville. ;)

...and I'd agree with Dr. S, if I had to choose somewhere outside of my immediate area, Austin, Tx would be at the top of the list. :D

...in response to the question about remaining where I am for the remainder of my life, I'd say it's a good chance I will be in this immediate area for the duration. :yup

Port Richey, Florida
Naples is nice and rich (I personally think the traffic sucks!)

I love the beach and I LOVED Pensacola, Florida!!!

Job market was low paying, but a nice home was $60,000+

Girls were awesome!!

The beach is named the emerald coast. White (rich hotel ashtray) sand and emerald green water! You could see your feet far out into the gulf of mexico.

Nice breezes daily!

Living near Clearwater now and it's beautiful!!!! Traffic on hwy 19 is horrible, but you just take a less traveled road.

NO state income taxes!!!!!!

year round nice weather!!!!!!!

Just my 2 cents.

here's my biased opinion

raleigh, nc

great location

golf all around (pinehurst 1 hour away) over 75-100 courses within an hours drive

beach 1 1/2 hours away

mountains 2 1/2 hours away

rtp (research triangle park) is located here (ibm, glaxo-smith-kline, etc)...plenty of job opportunities

not super jammed on the highways and byways from 4-7...not easy mind you, but not like the the huge cities

low cost of living

nc state, duke, unc within 15 miles of one another (enough chick's for you?), with another 5-7 colleges closeby

only setback here is the entertainment

we have hurricanes and our college basketball is pretty heavy here....

nice museum of arts and trendy restaurants, but nothing compared to charlotte

anyone ever coming into raleigh, give me a holler and we'll go grab a beer

Movin back to Cali!
Uhm, I can't really take #6 into account, but here's my pick...

Okay, barring all the recent Peterson and Levy stuff,

Modesto, CA.

It's literally a middle-class mecca. It's about 90 mins from SF., a good mid-way point in California, not too crowded but not remote, excellent schools, lots of recreation around, good golf courses, good shopping, nightlife, good restaurants, a great place to raise kids, excellent weather (hot in the summer... but who doesn't like to hang out by the pool?), never snows (just rains in the winter)....

that's my 2 cents.

As ajoytoy said, Raleigh for the reasons he listed.

Although to me 20 miles west is the best place of all, just a lighter shade of blue rather than some asspack red right joytoy:D

Almost anywhere in California, if it weren't for the people. Man, talk about people screwing up the place they live, these folks make the old frontier pioneers "puke" in their graves. But it is a beautiful state.

But hey, I live in So. Florida. The state ain't as great and the people are pretty bad also, but for other reasons. I like the S. Florida West Coast, Naples, Sanibel, Marco, etc.

It would have to be anywhere in the south. First 'cause of the weather and second 'cause of the people. Jacksonville, FL; Charlotte, NC; many others.

Ft. Worth
I love Ft. Worth, TX.

Hot chicks, great weather, traffic not bad, good golf courses all around the area, great downtown area, great nightlife.

Austin is a great city too. I have stayed there plenty of times and always enjoyed it. I have a few friends that still live there and they love it.

I have always heard great things about San Diego.

Are they true?

hills, hills and mountains.....

terrible traffic.......

roads under construction year round......

cant travel 10-miles in any direction without going over a bridge or thru a tunnel......and this is where pittburghers think its a law to drive 30 mph instead of 55!.......makes for great rush hour traffic!!

no-jobs.....

average age here is about 60......lol

extremely close knit neighborhoods.....strong family ties here....
if they do stay, then usually live in same neighborhood they grew up.....everyone knows everyone.....makes for safe community.....very friendly people.....

great pizza/bars....theres got to be .more pizza shops and bars here than any other city this size.....in my neighborhood which is about a 3-mile area there is about 20 bars and 10 pizza shops...
