Best Overall Cuban Cigar, MonteCristo #2

And let me tell you, nothing else even comes close. They will run you close to $30 each if/when you can find real ones. While I will never have the kind of money it takes to make a $30 cigar my daily cigar, this would easily be my choice if I did.

Montecristo Montecristo No. 2 Review:

The king of the pointed cigars. This Montecristo Habano is something else. Those who prefer this brand will find in the No. 2 all the virtues of Montecristo and those who do not know it, will discover all the strenght of the world's best sold brand.

Review #109: This is one of the most full bodied yet balanced smokes in existence. Consistency has been excellent over the last decade, all things considered. It is so strong it can bowl over even a seasoned smoker. I get a craving for one of these from time to time, usually after a big lunch. The flavors are so packed it is almost overwhelming. I recommend aging these for several years. - Submitted by pachemar on January 14, 2006

Review #108: Smoked one of these beauties on new years eve and boy was it good. It's been sitting in my humidor for over 6 months and it was sure worth the wait. Lot's of smoke, good draw, silky wrapper, and tasty! I am lucky enough to be able to buy this for 5 EURO a piece. Smoke with some single malt. - Submitted by thecigarforum.com on January 3, 2006

Review #107: Just smoked a fresh '05 example. The construction was impeccable. I could have left the ash go all the way to the nub but I "broke" it off at nearly 4 inches! The taste was very nice but no doubt too young to really appreciate. This cigar continues to fascinate Habanos lovers and I will continue to buy them knowing that having more around to age is a good thing. Others in the collection from '02 are really blossoming into woncerful examples of Montecristo's delight. Spotty at times in the past, yes, but the newer production stuff I've been seeing is truly a great cigar. There's something magical about this cigar and I encourage those with less-than-perfect experiences not to give up on it. - Submitted by Shooter on January 2, 2006

Review #106: This is certainly one of the most complex and flavorfull cigars out there. Easily one of my all time favorite. I bought my first Montecristo Piramide box 5 years ago and smoked the first one right on the shop. The cigar was amazing, even color and well constructed. It burnt evenly with nice round puffs and deep nice consistent draw. Certainly not for beginners. I suggest for the newbies to try on a more milder cigars and move your way up. Interestingly, this cigar offers 3 different levels of flavors. The first third was fulfilling, deep, a little creamy and a hint of spicy nut. The midsection or the second third of the cigars offers a deeper and more spicier flavor and still giving a nice even draw. A powerful cigar indeed. However, (yes.. there is a however) the last third of the cigar is not what i had in mind. Too bitter and offer a much more complexcity to the already complex cigar. Over the next few years, i smoked these cigars once in a while. They aged really well in Elie B and you wont be dissapointed in keeping a few boxes...enjoying one once in a while. (of course you have to smoke other cigars as well! :) ) - Submitted by hkakalim on December 7, 2005

Review #105: Living in Mexico, they are alot of frauds of Cohibas and this cigar.. You need to go to a reputable shop to find authemtic Cubans. Much like the rest of the reviewers, when this cigar is good it is wonderful ( about as strong as I smoke), but when its bad , well its, not up to par and you toss it....and that bothers me..like a bad bottle of wine in a case...Many shrug their shoulders and open, lite, another...But if you have a name like Montecristo, Chateau Latour (yes, they are in the same league) you strive for a certain level. That being said...90% of the time this is my after dinner cigar...10% o fthe time its tossed. and I shake my head...... - Submitted by donk93953 on November 16, 2005

Just was given some Nat Sherman Figs Mur, nice smoke for Free.

Haven't seen mention of OpusX, I get a few of these a year, just because they are hard to get in Texas.

Will be going to the local smoke house for a Gar and Beer, Friday brings out around 20-25 smokers, Men and Women, woman owned Bussiness.

Crown and Coke for starter

Steve, i saw this review on www.cigarsmokers.com

Fuente Fuente Opus X

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fuente Fuente Opus X

Ring Gauge 52 Length 6 3/8

Preflight Aroma= intriguing with a wood smell to it.
Construction= perfect
Burn= It has a streaky burn, but a cool slow burn.

Flavor= Complex to say the least. Lots of cedar and leather with a power undertone of salt.
Lots of nicotine it keeps your attention the entire time. Near the end I was a little jittery from it.

Draw= was perfect

I really enjoyed this cigar. There is a lot of hype with it and you see that in the price. The salt flavor is awesome. I like the stronger cigar. I don't like the price. I paid $25 a stick. Even though I don't like the price I still seem to have quite a few of them.

I have a half box left from a wedding gift of the 64 Padron torpedos that have been in my humidor a little over 18 months now. They are one of my two favorite sticks, the Opus X Robustos being the other. Great strong flavor, really will kick you in the head. Cigar Afficianado just rated the Double Corona X as the #1 cigar of the year - I just tend to like the size of the Robusto of Perfexion #4 a little more. I prefer to buy by the box, but my local shops dont keep them in stock. Fuente opened a store in Vegas last year that I'm hoping to visit in a couple months when I'm out there. As an official Fuente store, I'm hoping the prices are reasonable. The Double Corona is a $14.50 msrp stick that often sells upwards of $30.

Never ordered from cigarone, but I'm intrigued if anyone here has. A 5 ct box of Cohiba Robustos would be @ $120 shipped $24/stick. More than reasonable for Cohibas and less than you would pay for most Opus product over here. Are they legit and how do they ship to the US?

Rocky Patel Vintage 1992
Torpedo - 6 1/4 x 52

I smoked one of these last night and man this is a great Cigar:

Medium to full bodied, this blend of rare aged tobacco has a perfect balance of flavor, complexity, and richness. A very enticing smoke with bold flavors that consist of strong noted of coffee and cedar with a long earthy finish. The 10 year old Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper along with the 5 year old filler and binder are a perfect compliment of strength and complexity. This cigar is recommended for the seasoned smoker that is in pursuit of a rare vintage smoke.

I heard about Cigarone from a client. He told me he's used them a few times and never a problem. Other then that I don't have any idea how it works.

Cigarone method of payment:

2. How may I pay for these cigars?

We accept American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Diners and wire transfers as methods of payment.

If I were going to try this I'd use my Visa/Amex, that way if you have a problem you could go to the credit card co.

Interesting though I poked on their site and it says they dont ship to the US. I dropped the guy an email to see what the procedure was. Found another post elsewhere that indicated they ship they will not ship you the original boxes and will ship without the bands, but will ship the bands seperately if you want. Would love to try it out, always curious though about the legitimacy of any Cuban dealer.

Will do, I love the Montecristo #4s as well and an unbelieveable price at $7 a stick. If I do place an order, I will let you know how it goes. They appear to be legit from everything I've read.
