SEC Guru would disagree. He had OSU as a 23.5 pt underdog going into the SugarBowl. His system had them going 2-6 in conference if they played 8 SEC opponents. Back to the drawing board.

Big Ten is not as bad as most outside of Big Ten Country make them out to be. I think Ohio St would compete well in the SEC, as they seem to be the only Big Ten squad that recruits at an elite level based on the numbers. My guess is Neb will get going in the Big Ten and will compete for titles in that conference on an annual basis. Wisk an Iowa are Wisk and Iowa. They will get their 8-9 wins, with an occasional shot at a BCS game. Just need to finish when they get that shot, especially when playing teams out of lesser conferences like Wisc did this year. Hard to imagine how bad Meech is these days. Truly embarassing to their fans, I'm sure. Like Michigan, the rest of the conference lacks signifigance.

Big Ten gets bowl bids because their fans travel well and that means money. Several Big Ten teams in bowls this year did not deserve bowl bids but when you have to fill up 40 Bowls slots with 80 teams.....

Not as long as Pelini is the HC there, they won't.

And Nebraska and their fans have always had a superior attitude about how good they are-- Penn State ran their mouths about how they were going to dominate the Big-10 when they joined back in 1990--and just how many Big-10 titles does Penn State have?
the correct answer would be 3, Alex. The same number as Northwestern...:142smilie

Bring on those big, bad bullies from Nebraska...

Like your thinking yyz and comments redsfann--everyone here knows my feelings about Pellini and Big Red-they will do ok in the B10 but willnot dominate.

The difference in recruiting classes between Nebraska and Penn State make Nebraska do a little better. But like I said when Neb announced they were moving, I think it really hurts there recruiting.

yes you learn in JV football to scoop and score on blocked punts. I put a few peanuts on OSU as well just because a lot of guys on here were on them. It wasn't the right pick, but it won because of one idiot player falling on a football.

OSU / Big10 fans beating their chest and claiming last night the Buckeyes "made a statement" have GOT to be on drugs.... because they obviously didn't watch the game.

I watched the game and what stuck out more is OSU can catch a football and Arkansas is trying to learn how.

I don't know what gmroz's problem is. Nobody. . . .and I mean, nobody, backed the Big 10 as much as you did on New Year's day

I felt like making some ridiculous claims, like your Wisconsin and OSU couldn't win 4 games in the SEC.

PS: You prove you're hatred of facts when you call Arky the 4th best team in the SEC. They came in 2nd in the "tougher" of the two SEC divisions.

I do not know of SEC guru's claims, nor I do I care much about them. I will say that the SEC West was ultra-tough this season. LSU, Arky, Aub and Bama is a murders row imo. Throw in games vs Fla, S Car, and an upstart Miss St (who kicked the shit out of Mich) and it adds up to a boatload of potential losses.

Iowa, Wisk, Mich St and Ohio St could have easily gone 4-4 if playing in the SEC west this season. Of course, so could have LSU and Arky, who were only a few plays away from losing 4 in SEC play and going undefeated. These games are often down to 1 or 2 plays, and you have seen it all bowl season, including in the Sugar Bowl. The difference b/w #1 nationally and #15 is minimal in my eyes. Hell, Bama lost 3 in the SEC and whipped a team tied for 1st in the Big Ten.

Bottom line, the Big Ten is not as good of a football conference as the SEC, and has not been for several years. You, YYZ, BBC and others can slice it and dice it anyway you see fit, but in the end, SEC is the best football conference since 2003 hands down. Does this mean that SEC is division 1, while the rest are division 2? No, but facts are facts and SEC stands alone at the top in today's landscape.

Sadly for you fellas, the Big Ten is not #2 either, but that is an argument you can take up with Poon, Destrector D, or some of the PAC 10 guys;)

:0056 Nothing more to really be said. There are some SEC idiots on here that make crazy statements, just like Scott4USC did back in the day. Take them for what they are worth.

Was the SEC down this year? A little
East? Yes
West? No
Is it still the toughest conference? No question.

Could Ohio State be successful in the SEC? I think they could win 8-9 games fairly consistently, but they would have to recruit more speed to challenge for a title.

Can other teams in the Big 10 be successful in the SEC? Maybe Wisky, but that's it. Iowa is just too slow to compete week in and week out.

Will Nebraska all the sudden dominate the Big 10? Hell no. Not with Bo Bo, he is a schmuck.

.............................................sorry it took so long, I was swallowing my pride....

Cie your exactly correct man. I am bigggest big ten guy in the world, but as of late SEC is the top. I dont think the big ten has neccesarliy gotten a lot worse then what it was 10 years ago, the SEC is just getting better. These athletes are bigger, stronger, faster then they were even 10 years ago, and the southern confrences are benefiting the most from that.

All I know is I love Joe PA, but get him out and bring scott peterson in from boise!!!!!!

we will compete with a new coach. PA is actually a very good football state, and there is talent around. Just need the right guy too go get it.
