Zack Hample, a 37-year-old who describes himself as a professional home run ball catcher, wound up with A-Rod's 3000th hit ball last night, A prize souvenir and said he had no intention of giving it back.

Would you sell it? Or give it back? What would you do?

One man said: Classless act by a classless man! Give A-Rod back the ball! Have compassion for the man. For the first time in a long time A-Rod feels like a kid again playing the game he loves. 3000 hits is quite an accomplishment, peds or not(pitchers had the same advantage), congrats #AlexRodriguez on 3k.

:mj07: yeah right.

I'm not a professional ball catcher ( never knew it existed ) I would probably give it back. Now I know why there are so many grown men bringing their glove to the ball park.
I'm happy for Alex even though it look like JV served it up.

A-Rod's money: The money comes from the 10-year, $275 million deal A-Rod signed with the Yankees in 2007. That contract was?and still is?the most lucrative contract in baseball history. (The second-richest contract in baseball history, for $252 million with the Texas Rangers, was also signed by Rodriguez.)Jan 14, 2014

He could write you a big check easily, if the ball is important to his trophy room.

If I was A-rod I would just pay someone to beat the fuk out of him & take the ball. Also if I was MLB I wouldn't let grown men into the parks if they have gloves or jerseys

I'd have probably handed the ball to him after the game. Maybe he'd have given me a jersey or a bat. Hell maybe he'd take me to dinner I don't know, but I wouldn't keep the ball. It's his accomplishment not mine.

sadly he like Sosa ..Bonds ..McGwire...Clemens..really don't give a shit either way..

they got their payday$$$$$$$...and that in the end was more important than the integrity of the game..

the great game will never be the same..

....I should have known..

it won't kosher..

McGwire, meanwhile, who had averaged 36 a year through age 30, suddenly zoomed to 68 per 550 at age 31. For six years his relative home runs were 68, 68, 59, 76 (in 1998), 69, and 75 at the age of 36. At that age Ruth had declined to 47.

Bonds took up where McGwire left off. From 1987-98, he averaged 33 homers a year, and at age 33 began the normal and inevitable decline -- from 45/550 to 41 to 37. Then at the age of 36 Barry suddenly skyrocketed from 37 to 53, to 56, and finally in 2001 to 83 (that?s 73 in only 483 at bats or 83 in 550). Babe, meanwhile, had dropped to 41 at the same age.

I know you had to be watching Sosa & McGwire when they were in that home run derby year ? I was watching every high light & it was great. The old timers were also tainted with their Greenies, Coke, Pain killers & Alcohol . My hero Mickey Mantle was taking speed before the game after an all nighter of drinking with Whitey & the boys.

Agree. When I see an NFL lineman run a 4.6 forty at almost 300 pounds I have to laugh. America's fascination with steroids focuses on baseball.

there is no comparison between speed and muscle mass and recovery time steroid use..

ain't even in the same ballpark..

and fvck Pete Rose too..

19 years I didn't gamble on ANY GAMES IN THE MLB..

writes a book for profit...and BINGO..

He admits gambling on games for years and years..

they don't give a shyt...then ya get waning interest from me at best..

Hey Ryan Braun :soapbox:..How's that whole non-steroid use working out for your power numbers ya putz
