First of all - that was pretty funny Scott...

Second of all - I can certainly blame Bush for China, Russia, North Korea, Iran and others for raising their hackles at the United States. .

i wonder why they waited till after the election to "raise their hackles" ..........at bush?....

i`m sure an invasion of texas(by someone other than illegals)is in the planning stages....

If you think that none of those countries didn't raise their hackles under Bush, then I don't know what to tell you. Of course you are trying to paint the new scenario as something new, or different, and that's one way to look at it. I mentioned several things to show why I think they've been emboldened and empowered under the Bush regime. But, best to evade with the commentary...keep up the good work, Wease...

I'd guess an invasion of Texas, if Bush is back there at this point, would be as good a place as any - since he probably is still sending money and troops out of the area...but wait, he's probably vacationing again, so some may still be in limbo...

Under a mask.
Which was more embarrassing. These boats being harrassed by the Chinese,or the pilot(s) of a spy plane being forced to land over Chinese airspace early on during the Bush administration ?.

The USA doing manuvers in international waters ?
Must be something new with CHANGE in mind.

chaddy,my man.....this is what i`m thinking...if the chinese were pissed off at bush and wanted to press the u.s....given the fact that we were knee deep in afghanistan and hip deep in iraq(an unpopular war with the left and many in the middle), and given his unpopularity during his second term, you`d think that china could have pretty much done what they wanted in bush`s second term....

with the media leading the anti-bush and anti-war sentiment, this country didn`t have the stomach to confront china on any issue...

so why now,are the chinese willing to risk a confrontation with us over such trivial bullshit harrassment?......

i mean shit,if i were china, i'd look at the plunging dow, and wonder what i could do to shore it up....

everyvbody says,"oh!!!..but china carries our debt!"....i say bullshit.....if we stop buying from china, their entire economy dries up and blows away....especially if we get hit with the kind of hyperinflation that looks to be headed our way.....

they'll own a bunch of worthless paper debt that we'll default on.......what are they gonna do?.... try and repossess our entire country?.....

why now are they getting bold?......they figure why not stick their toe in the water after they read that obama wants to cut defense spending...they read that obama sent a "private" message to russia basically begging for their help stopping iran`s nuclear program....saying that we`ll give up missile defense if russia "helps" us convince iran to stop with their nuclear program.... hillary just came back from china, where she rolled over on their appalling human rights abuses...

n. korea now on full military alert sending icbm`s up....basically saying,f-ck off....

they sense weakness...i think that they sense that obama and his administration are world-class wussies(i`m just stating what i believe they`re thinking).....they`re getting bold....

they aren`t testing our navy...they know what we have...what it`s capable of...

what they want to find out is what the POTUS is made of......

nobody`s saying "go to war" over this(these are the simplistic terms that the bbc`s of the world think in)...but, obama will have to respond appropriately....the
chinese are running a "stimulus and response" test of the obama admin. to a delicate military/diplomatic incident....

my hope is that obama passes the test..my guess is obama will fail the test as he's so busy and overwhelmed it's starting to cut into his workout schedule.....;)

"tensions" aren`t new...the "confrontations" are...they tested bush early in his administration...not again thereafter...something was said or done to stop them in their tracks....

and i haven`t even mentioned caving in on gitmo and other w.o.t. issues...pussyfooting around with people who`s only goal in life is killing us...

the message being sent?...we`re soft...soft...soft...

will obama be savvy enough to put them in their place deftly?...i hope so...

this stuff doesn`t happen in a vacuum...the msm might be willing to wash over the tough foreign policy issues facing the obama administration....the obama adminstration might laugh about it....but every single foreign nation with an unrealized national interest is measuring our prez. out on this stuff....

your precious msm does "the one" and our country no favors not to put him under any pressure or scrutiny........

the msm/"who are the chinese to think they can test "the one"? ...he was president of the harvard law review!"........

Weasey, needless to say, to simplify, you are throwing out many generalities and personal accents to situations that could easily be explained differently. You throw out sentence after sentence in your manner, making it seem that your opinion is true, and it is just an opinion. Soon after, you make it seem anyone that differs from you opinion simply is a moonbat, at best. That about sum it up?

To address: all of a sudden, they read that Obama wants to cut defense spending, and IMMEDIATELY, they decide to challenge us, before we've cut defense spending. That same spending that far exceeds their own? Ok - whatever. You think they are gonna all of a sudden launch an attack against us due to this arguable situation, BEFORE Obama cuts defense spending? Ok - whatever. Talk about fear mongering, which you guys have adopted since Obama took over.

In your estimation, China wants to make sure our economy is solid, because if it isn't, then their country will suffer dramatically. So, their idea is to confront us and follow through with it so we will kick in our military economy to face the China affront? Make sense to you? Doesn't to me, but nice tossout. And you dismiss the ownership of their country in our own economy, paper, and investments? Doesn't matter, really, when convenient to dismiss, right? We shouldn't worry about them, but all of a sudden, we have to, because, um, well, Obama is the President, and there's no way he can make a decision that protects our country? Ok - whatever.

You make these flowery comments about the Russia situation, which makes everything seem like we are doing nothing but giving in completely. Of course, after the past 8 years of complete dismissiveness and dismantling of any worldwide communication or partnerships that give ANY value to the communicatee, anything we do would seem weak. Bush did nothing but offend, bully and tick off all the people you talk about. He strongarmed our allies, and ended up embarrassing them when proven to be an unsubstantiated liar. At the very worst, he did nothing but line the pockets of himself and those who put him in power. And THAT is not a stretch, that is probably more true than moonbattery.

North Korea has essentially said F-off to Bush and anyone else for a very long time. Most here know the concern in that region lies with China and it's allies, right? North Korea blasted off missiles when Bush was in power, right? They did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted to under Bush, as I recall, they just realize that if they get too crazy, they will be taken care of by the real power in that arena. Most conservatives agree that China is the key to controlling that freak.

Bush refused to talk to anyone, essentially. Thankfully, in my opinion, because he in person would be an embarrassing representative. I would not be concerned at all about Obama sitting across from just about anyone in a face to face and talking about things. He's someone that can use that to help our country, and will be a good representative of our interests.

The previous administration, with it's actions and lack of communication ABILITIES, and complete screwups with personnel (Rumsfeld, etc.) worried me. This one, does not. I think Hillary will do fine in her engagements. Same for Obama. They will be able to communicate whatever message they want to, without looking like a liar or a dismissive idiot. And that is worth something, all things considered. It can be worth as much as being a dismissive person who has arguable world control issues, and missions. I think the current administration will face what we have coming, and do it pretty well.
