The Coin Toss

Wrote this same post last year and tried to find it to bump it up again but I couldn't find it in the archives.

Easily my favorite prop of every Super Bowl is the coin toss. I don't have the exact stats but the thread last year did. I heard about six years ago a theory on betting tails on the coin toss as the decorative coin is top heavy and heads tends to find the carpet. The person who told me this said that the coin toss had come in over 70% of the time since Super Bowl I. I can't confirm that stat but I do know that Tails has come in the past SIX years and is worth a look as a prop bet. I like it this year for the following reasons.

-All the press wants to do is take pictures of the heads side. Tails never thinks that it gets its chance to show its stuff. Now under all the lights it can gain some respect once and for all.

-The artificial turf of the Superdome will let gravity take it toll and provide a solid bounce giving Tails a better chance as it is the lighter, faster side.

-Much better fight song ("Tails never fails")

-And Joe Public loves to bet Heads.

What do you think about the safety no safety for 100 /700

Damn i cant remember a safety in the regular season that I witnessed. I would bet on no safety before I would bet on the filp of the fllipen coin. St Louis will probably be too busy getting into the endzone on the other side of the safety. Hmm is that a prop ?


Oh my God that thing about how they rush the TV on third downs to confuse the QB is so funny. I think all of us have got down to that level. you know who you are. they are the ones that laugh hardest at it !

This is a thread from last year. Heads took the money in 2002, but I think that tails will return to form this year. The grass surface does scare me, but Tails won't let down. Good Luck.

As far as I know, the coin flip had gone 6 straight Tails until last yr when it went Heads, and 27 of 36 SB's went Tails. Like Bobby, though, I can't confirm the 27/36. But definitely 6 straight Tails until last yr.
