One would think that Hospice would be an almost economy-proof business like funeral homes and liquor stores but, as I discovered today, that's not true. Our agency is closing effective immediately but they'd still like the nurses and social worker to hang around and complete the cleanup of patient transfer. In the next two weeks I will be officially unemployed.

If anyone knows of any weekday-daytime nursing positions in NC with minimal weekends, please let me know! I'm getting too old for this shite.

Wow, sorry to hear about that. Something on the news today that NY health care services are up. I'm sure NY isn't an option (taxes) but I do know someone in Hospice that you could talk to.

Sorry to hear about your situation, VaNurse. My mother has worked as both a nurse and a social worker at various times for the Houston Hospice since it opened its doors and I know that they are actually shorthanded right now. It ain't NC but Houston is a great city. Best of luck with your job search.

My wife is a nurse practitioner here in Nashville and she's always talking about how short handed nurses are here. Nashville is a great city to live and raise a family in, IMO. Good luck.

There is many days I think I need a nurse. But my wife tells me no. I tell her she,s no fun. But that feild of working for private folks is exploding due to cuts like what happen to you. Run a add in your local papers before other do. Work terms that some pay can be cash only. That way you don,t need a huge salary. No taxes on some is big diference.
