Homer is 'greatest American,' poll shows

LONDON - What does this say about Americans? Homer Simpson tops an online BBC poll that asks, "Who is the greatest American?"
The poll is still going on, but so far Homer's received over 40 percent of the votes, putting him well ahead of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. Lincoln is in second place with 16 percent. George Washington has attracted only about 5 percent of the votes, and former President Clinton ranks 10th, with three percent of the votes.
The final results will be revealed on Tuesday. Countries taking part in the poll include, Britain, Australia, Canada, France and the United States.
