The score of the Green Bay Packers' 38-17 win over the Carolina Panthers Sunday doesn't tell the whole story of the Packers' level of domination over the defending NFC South champions. It does continue, however, Green Bay's incredible penchant for dominating in October.

"I think the offense really set the tone," said 620WTMJ Voice of the Packers Wayne Larrivee on "Wisconsin's Morning News" about Sunday's win.

"(After) the big pass play to Jordy Nelson (59 yards, the first score of the game), you knew that Cam Newton and company were in for quite a game."

A game, and specifically a first half, where:
- Green Bay gained 271 yards and 17 first downs, and gave up just 113 yards and six first downs
- The Packers produced first downs on 60 percent of their third down plays, and Carolina only did on 29 percent of theirs
- Green Bay only committed two penalties, while the Panthers committed eight
- The Packers scored touchdowns on four of their first five possessions, while Carolina punted on all of their first five

"21-0 down takes the edge off a read option or any kind of running game," said Larrivee.

That includes the ability for Carolina to use quarterback Cam Newtown in the read-option offense, one which has flustered Packers defenses for years.

It forced Newton to throw the ball much more often, something he didn't do well.

"Newton was very inconsistent and inaccurate with his passes, even when he wasn't under pressure."

The win also continues an incredible run of victories for the Packers in the month of October.

Since October 24, 2010, the Packers are 16-1 when playing games that month.

"If they could play the playoffs and the Super Bowl in the month of October, they'd be working on four (championships) in a row," joked Larrivee.

Specifically, he cited Aaron Rodgers' performance in the month. "Aaron Rodgers (is) go good in the month of October...it's incredible."

In that span of 17 October games since 10/24/10, Rodgers has completed 370 of his 553 passes for 4,830 yards, 44 touchdowns and six interceptions - a maniacally good 116.2 passer rating.

If that was transposed over an entire season, only four quarterback seasons in NFL history would top it - including Rodgers' record-breaking 2011 campaign.
