OKay, so the guy at the local book wearing the polyester shorts and mismatched socks had Seattle and Minnesota as his top plays last night. I fell into the trap of listening to "my buddy" on the Wolves pick. But this time, we're going strictly contrarian.
Mr. Polyester Shorts like the Cavs tonight. He figures in a game between two shit teams, he'll take the 3 points. After all, Cavs coming off the San Antonio upset should beat a Hawks team that got hammered by Seattle at home in it's last game, right?
My play:
ATLANTA -3 vs. CLEVELAND (BEST BET)
This is a classic "zig zag" game where one team played it's heart out in the last game (Cavs upset Spurs) and the other got humiliated at home (Hawks were never in the game versus Seattle). I am figuring that Hawks were fatigued from the long trip and now have had an extra day to get back into a normal cycle. With a Saturday night home crowd, (I'm convinced referees favor weekend home teams with favorable calls) and the Hawks motivated tonight versus a team they think they can clearly beat, I suspect the will cover this number. Atlanta has absolutely dominated this series in recent years, going 18-6 ATS since 1996. Cavs are 6-12 ATS as a dog in the next game coming off a win. Cavs are 5-15 ATS in next game after covering the line by 10+ Hawks are 12-7 SU coming off a loss -- including &-1 ATS as a home favorite coming off a home loss! Playing the Hawks.
If the Hawks lose, I guess I'll have to go out and buy some polyester shorts let my sideburns grow and join the club.
