1,000 posts...WOW!! I never thought I would see this day. So many people got me to this point. I remember my first post like it was yesterday. Early on I was a one-trick pony, posting only NBA losers. Through the years I have branched out and now consistently post losers in the NFL and Off the Wall forums. Here's hoping that the 1,000th post is a lucky charm.

Tonight Philadelphia travels to Washington as a 7.5 point (and rising) road favorite. Most people will tell you not to lay that many points on the road. In a divisional game. Which is nationally televised. I typically subscribe to that theory unless I have a very good reason to do so. I think that the Redskins coaching situation and the fact that Philadelphia was beat by the leagues worst team last week qualify.

The Redskins also fall into that category of worst teams in the league. They have a bingo caller making play calls (O16 Sweep Left B21 Bingo) and an offense that is unable to score. There have been whispers that the Redskins (who are on the bye next week) will try to draw the favor of John Gruden this week, enticing him to come back and coach their team next year. Gruden is an offensive coach and QB guru (sound familiar Jim Zorn fans??) who would be a major upgrade to anybody on the staff. While the Redskins and Jason Campbell have been mostly inept against the rest of the league, they have experienced quite a bit of success against Philadelphia; he is 3-2 in five starts against them since 2006, 3-1 the past two seasons.

This is a very important game for the Eagles. They must not only win, but do so convincingly. Despite the fact that the Phillies find themselves in the World Series for the second straight year, they are somewhat overshadowed by the Birds poor performance last week. The Eagles have been good at bouncing back from huge letdowns. They were able to recover from a McNabb's abysmal performance (and subsequent benching) against the Ravens to blow out Arizona 48-20 on Thanksgiving Night. This was on the heels of a 13-13 tie against the now mighty (yet once hide-your-eyes awful) Cincinnati Bengals.

I was lucky enough be in the stadium as the Phillies clinched a spot in the World Series this year. The look on the faces of the fans was pure joy and adulation. The Eagles have a chance to piggyback some of those good vibes (at least until Wednesday night) Nothing less than a big win will do. I see no other outcome for tonight.
