"the bunker"
the media strikes again with more anonymous sources....disclosing intel....the whole shooting match...

BAGHDAD, Iraq -" An Iraqi man who was one of the first people on the scene of the U.S. airstrike targeting Abu Musab al-Zarqawi said he saw American troops beating a man who had a beard like the al-Qaida leader.

The witness, who lives near the house where al-Zarqawi spent his last days, said he saw the man lying on the ground near an irrigation canal. He was badly wounded but still alive, the man told Associated Press Television News.

U.S. troops arriving on the scene wrapped the man’s head in an Arab robe and began beating him, said the local man, who refused to give his name or show his face to the camera.
His account could not be independently verified."
"

i repeat...."""His account could not be independently verified.""" :SIB

*sniff*....i smell john murtha coming.....he's gonna be all over this on the sunday morning talk shows. ...

not that it would surprise me if an iraqi cop or american soldier who's kid or buddy was killed by a suicide bomber decided a short blanket party was in order...

i would have suggested life-prolonging technologies just to keep the pain going....but, hey, that's just me and i'm an infidel.....

now we`re hearing that an abc blog published the name of the captured zarqawi aide that spilled the beans....

that`s nice..giving away more sources of intelligence...

since the good guys can`t coerce information with anything more persuasive than ice cream or stern language, all they can could have offered is "if you tell us, we won't publish your name and photo globally, ensuring that you, your family, and your friends meet a horrible death" ....

i`m not sure whether this was disclosed elsewhere...but,i do know that abc news wouldn't give a flying falafel whether reporting this would hurt our side or not.....

From Waynes article. What are you guys whining about now?

"But at the same time his death has led the government to more information about tens of terrorists," he said. "God willing, this is the beginning of their end and security will be returned to the Iraqi streets."

The U.S. military has moved quickly to take advantage of the power vacuum left by al-Zarqawi's death, carrying out at least 56 raids since the airstrike. Al-Zarqawi died shortly after the U.S. military obliterated his hideout northwest of Baghdad with two 500-pound bombs. The bombs tore a huge crater in the date palm forest where the house was nestled outside the town of Baqouba.

A search of the destroyed safehouse yielded documents and electronic storage devices that are being assessed for potential use against his followers, a military officer said Friday.

An M-16 rifle, grenades and AK-47 rifles also were found, according to the officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because results from the search have not been announced publicly. The U.S.-made M-16 was fitted with special optics.

They also found documents and unspecified "media," which the officer indicated normally means information storage devices such as computer hard drives and digital cameras.

U.S. military spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell also said 39 raids were conducted across Iraq late Thursday and early Friday, including some directly related to the information they obtained from the strike against al-Zarqawi. Those were in addition to 17 raids carried out immediately after al-Zarqawi was killed.

The U.S. military in Baghdad declined to say whether more raids occurred Saturday, saying it would not release information concerning ongoing operations.

"However, coalition forces will continue to assess and exploit information, and we will continue to take necessary actions to degrade terrorist operations in Iraq," it said in a statement.
