"the bunker"
a document received from a source at nbc news....to michele malkin

Date: Mon, 27 Mar 2006 13:05:54 -0800 (PST)
From: Subject: Looking for Muslim Males to participate in NBC Dateline Segment

[Forwarded]

Salam,

""I hope everyone is doing well.

I have been talking with a producer of the NBC Dateline show and he is in the process of filming a piece on anti-Muslim and anti-Arab discrimination in the USA. They are looking for some Muslim male candidates for their show who would be willing to go to non-Muslim gatherings and see if they attract any
discriminatory comments or actions while being filmed.

They recently taped two turbaned Sikh men attending a football game in Arizona to see how people would treat them. They set them up with hidden microphones and cameras, etc.

They want to do the same thing 2 or 3 other times (in various parts of the USA) with one or two Muslim men in each setting. They are looking for men who actually "look Muslim". They want a guy with no foreign accent whatsoever, a good thick beard, an outgoing personality, and someone willing to wear a kufi/skullcap during the filming.

They also want someone who is fairly well accomplished and has contributed to American society at large in some meaningful way.

That said, I'm urgently looking for someone who can be filmed this April 1st weekend at a Nascar event (and other smaller events) in Virginia. NBC is willing to fly in someone and cover their weekend expenses. The filming would take place all day on Saturday and Sunday.

We already have a hijabi sister who will be filmed there but a Muslim is also needed to join her. I also need candidates for the other filming segments which will take place in the following weeks.

A few weeks later, NBC will fly all the filmed participants to New York City to interview them as a group about their experience and thoughts on discrimination they've faced in America, especially in light of the times we live in (war on terror, 9-11, etc.). The show, if approved by NBC (highly likely), is expected to air sometime this summer.

What I need from interested candidates is an email with an attached clear photograph, a resume, and contact information. I also need basic information such as age, ethnic background, accomplishments, etc.

The sooner I can get this the better and please don't make emails too long. I will then submit a group of candidates to NBC so they can choose the people for the show.

Please forward this to all Muslim lists you can. Because of the upcoming filming in Virginia, this is pretty time-sensitive. My contact information is below.""

Salam,

Tarek El-Messidi

Catch that? The apparent "sting" involves targeting Nascar and other sporting events. 'Cause that's presumably where the fair and balanced NBC news staff thinks all the bigots are.......

why film Sikhs? They don't look Muslim, they look like Sikhs. Duh??

There aren't a lot of people who can tell the difference, esp. out of those that would treat that like garbage. One of my best friends is Indian, not muslim, no beard, and I've still heard people refer to him as a sand ****** before and have seen him treated differently.

And Weasel... once again, you're really grasping here. I'm failing to see what's wrong with this. Nothing wrong with exposing discrimination.

it`s akin to entrapment,imo.....

have you forgotten that we`re at war with radical islamists?....

have you forgotten that practically every day...not just in america...but all over the world...plots are being uncovered to attack westerners...hell,non muslims....everywhere....

do you send yamulke wearing joo`s into madrassas?...into an iranian soccer stadium?...

radical muslims have sworn to kill you,me...our families....

what`s the point?...that there are bound to be some a-holes that dislike or are suspicious of muslims among a hundred thousand people at a nascar event?...

isn`t that a good thing?....

you guys are joking about code red,blue,green....shouldn`t we be wary?...on guard?...

this is no more than a ploy from the hate america leftwing media...

the same ones that are crying about showing the "flight 93" movie...
don`t remind the public that we are under attack...just point out how racist we are?...

you guys live in a fairy tale world..

I don't know if it was you intention or not, but this line made me laugh out loud!

Aside from your "hate America media" hysterics, I more or less agree. We SHOULD be wary. There really isn't much point to this. I think, at the risk of sounding like a bigot myself, most people will know how a muslim-looking person would be treated by at least some in the crowd at a NASCAR event. I don't need a news segment to show me.

Does that terror alert scale really make you feel safer? Come on.

What does that thing have to do with us
being 'wary' or 'on guard?'

You probably saw a couple weeks ago 2 teenagers broke in and gained access to the water supply of a town in Massachussets. It's that easy.

That's the sort of thing that concerns me. No increased port security(might as well turn them over to Dubai while we're at it), no increased nuke facility security. Train stations, bus stations...nada.

One thing's for sure, that 90 year old lady ain't getting on the plane with a nail file.

So do I really give a f*ck what color the alert thing is at? That would be 'no.'

you guys didn`t get it?....you don`t understand the set up?....the agenda that drives the piece?....

That is what should concern everyone. I agree with GW that the media has let us down but not in the way he thinks. It has let us down by the early support it gave to Bush's war in Iraq while leaving the country defensless against attacks and in fact worse off than we were before 911 as proved by Katrina and other disasters that we made a mockery out of.

Yeah, I get it. Obviously it's like shooting fish in a barrel dangling Muslims as bait at a Nascar race and looking for reactions. (That was a mixed metaphor)

It's totally pointless, IMO, and certainly wouldn't be worth watching.

OK. You think the media was wrong in its early support for the war. Well, most everybody supported the war. The media was not exactly as gung ho as the public (I'm including Afghanistan and Iraq) but they did "cover" it.

Now then, you mention Katrina. Of course another attack simply on Bush (I still don't understand why). I will assume that your twisted notion is that the trooops i Iraq would have battled the strom? Or they would have been there before any other National Guards... Or perhaps it was a terrorist evoked event?

leaving the country defensless against attacks and in fact worse off than we were before 911 as proved by Katrina and other disasters that we made a mockery out of.

The reason I say I'd make it a signature is because it make no sense. I really don't undertand it.

Do you think terrorists are going to launch a full ground attack on the U.S. and that the soldiers or reserves would thwart that attack? Maybe forces stationed in Cuba?
Will another country attack us because we are vulnerable since we have over 200,000 troops in action? Not that we would ever retaliate...

Was it the media who demanded of Bush war action, and it's their fault we are now defensless?

Maybe those reservists currently be on the mexican border preventing the influx of illegals?

It seems to me that terrorist attacks usually are pretty much a surprise act. Not sure how troops would be able to deter a single strategic big strike? That unless you start posting National Guards everywhere like some 3rd world dictator-led country. And yet, that would be more in the case where you have smaller bombs going off every other day in the city streets or govt. buildings.
Your argument is tantamount to saying that the "media's" insistence on focusing on the "Abu Grahib" and "Guantanamo" or any soldier that shoots more than two bullets to kill a terrorist as well as all the other negative "reporting" is definitely a detriment to the war effort, our troops safety and could possibly be considered an act of treason.

Why does the media not infiltrate Muslim mosques IN AMERICA and expose the anti-American, anti-women, threatening extremeist rhetoric?????

Why instead portray the muslim as the victim????

You lefties don't see an agenda?????

Better yet, why don't they go in there -- dangle the carrot as they do in the above story -- and argue saying Muhammed is a rapist???

LMAO

love to see that "story"

Nosigar, do you live in a cave? I don't even think it is a debatable point to discuss how the Bush led government reacted to Katrina. The firing of Brown and overhaul of FEMA should give you some hint that it didn't work.
I would like to see our subways protected. People walk everyday with suitcases. Suitcases and knapsacks and anything else you can imagin and they do not pass any checkpoint.
A small bomb or a dirty bomb would be all it would take to cripple a finacial district of some major town going off in the subway system.
We don't have the money for that but we have half a trillion dollars, so far, to spend in Iraq.

Since when is Dateline hard news anyway? Is there even such a thing as hard news anymore? It's all crap no matter what tactics they do or don't use.

A "news magazine" story is something they plan/work on for weeks, and edit the hell out of anyway. It is always basically worthless newswise, or purely for enertainment.

i`m not sure what "hard news" is anymore,im.....

i do think that freeze made an excellent point....instead of setting up the old "god fearing, blue collar, country music loving middle america is racist"straw man again, why not do something constructive and uncover something that could actually do harm to america and it`s citizens?....

why?...because,they are to busy force feeding the masses their left wing agenda...

i loved the part that said,"They also want someone who is fairly well accomplished and has contributed to American society at large in some meaningful way."

of course, so the fabricated neanderthal reactions will be sooooo poignant.... :mj02:

think they'll ever have secret video of christians or jews trying to pray in saudi arabia, pakistan, afghanistan?.....lol

and this isn`t new for dateline...it's not like they haven't gotten caught b.s.ing before (see pickup truck fuel tanks exploding). ...

anti-american bastids...

I like Nascar. One reason is it got it's ass out of sitting down south and spread out across the county. Do they carry the good old boy no swearing polite as hell alittle to far. Hell yes. Real world folks is not Nascar. Let em swear some and have some good old boy fist fight don't hide the truth. As for NBC baiting the story. I'm not so sure they would need to. In a crowd of 100000 half or totally drunk folks it would take care of it self.

Talk about a leap of faith. This is just a dumb comment, asking anyone with any intelligence to think these two things are the same. But, on to my point...

Did anyone watch the interview with Saddam's former bodyguard last Sunday? That was really interesting to me, and certainly did not show any real left agenda like CBS is supposed to be a part of. This was a very intelligent, pleasant (at face value) man, who seemed to be speaking freely, and cold-bloodedly said he would hope that his son died as a martyr against the US in some manner. He also talked about Osama hitting us again, talking about the 6 month warning given to us which was similar to what went down in Europe. It just sent chills down my spine...he was so pleasant, so thoughtful, and then he brought it all back to the cold dark reality of what these people live for. Frightening. And this was on CBS, so that flies in the face of your rantings about major media bias.

And it again made me remember that Bush and Co. have completely dropped the ball on eliminating the man that orchestrated the killings of Americans, to go to Iraq and conduct their business there. The conservative apologists will have little to talk about when we are hit again in this country, and I am pretty sure until we get the guy, that we will be. Unlike Saddam, Osama has proven to be a problem for us. (Sorry, got a little off track there).

Sometimes it is important to remind Americans that bigotry and racism is not a good thing. It's part of what makes much of the US a great place for anyone to be. We must be vigilant, of course, but we also must remember that not all members of any race are a part of the most negative elements of that race. What better place than muslims at a NASCAR event to highlight racism in this country? This would make some interesting TV, in many ways, and what is the job of a TV magazine? To gain viewers and sell advertising to make a profit for the shareholders. It's about ratings. I would guess this would be a good draw.
