The NFL competition committee is looking into applying a penalty for using the "N word."
Any player overheard using the N word on the field, would receive a 15-yard penalty.

John Wooten, head of the Alliance, explained the thinking behind the rule change to CBS Sports:
"I will be totally shocked if the competition committee does not uphold us on what we're trying to do.
We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room."

Ok...so...
If we are going to go down the road of word control and political correctness; we had better get a road map so we can see where it leads.

The Politically Correct Police are going to have to come up with some accepted and agreed upon rules on banned words.
Just exactly how are these rules going to be formed?
What will they be based on?

Will it be a one word ban?
What other words might make the list?
Is there going to be a list of #@$% words players can say?

Is "nigga" the same thing as the "N word" ?
Or is that just a friendly cultural jive?
If the word ends in "er;" does that make it racist?
Inquiring minds will want to know.

The Seahawks corner back Richard Sherman ( who's Black ) weighed in on the subject.
He was not at all in favor of banning the N-word.
Sherman went on to say he thought the idea was "atrocious" and "almost racist."
He questioned that if they go after the N-word; why not all curse words?
A fair question.

Is the N word the most offensive word on the planet?
Well; certainly not in the hip hop culture and neither are words like: bitches, hoes and a host of other words I won't go into.
Meanwhile the Politically Correct Police are worried about the word "Bossy."
Sighs.

If we're going to go down this road...
Should we limit banned words to just one race?
That would be racist; wouldn't it?
The Liberal mind-set declares...If one person is offended...that's enough right there.

That was the case recently; when a Dartmouth Phi Delta Alpha fraternity canceled a ?Phiesta;? which was an annual event to raise money for cardiac care.
It was planned on May 5th / Cinco de Mayo.
You say Phiesta, I say Fiesta.
It was deemed as culturally insensitive by one person or at most; a few persons.
Seriously? Get over yourself!

What about words like: Honky, Cracker, White Devil or Redneck?
Do white people get to be offended by these words or is someone gong to tell us what we can and can't be offended by?

How about something for other races or cultures?
What about wetback or beaner?
Chink?
Gook?
Caffer?
Polack?
Towel head?
Pro-Lifer?
You, you, you traditional marriage supporter!
What about words like: queer, gay or fag?

Libs like to inject words like diversity into an argument.
The "diversity" that will be found here is:
There is no shortage of ways people can be offended over something.

The arguments are going to come.
Oh, you better know they are coming.

Someone's going to argue:
( A racial slur uttered by a member of that same racial group is not going to have the same impact as a racial slur uttered by members outside that group.
Black people often use the word as a term of endearment.
When white folks say it; it's an insult.
Black people get offended when non-Black folks use the word.
So; if you're NOT Black, you shouldn't use the word, ever, for any reason.)

Then someone's going to say:
( A racial slur is a racial slur.
Period.
If Back people choose to use that word as a term of endearment; do they get to be outraged when other ethnicities use it, regardless of context? )

When Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton weigh in; and you know they will; what are they going to say?
That it's racist to penalize Blacks for using the word on the field or in the locker room; but every other race should be penalized for saying it?

What would this new rule look like on the field?
Can you see this taking place?

Are the refs going to come up with a new signal to designate a racial slur?
How about putting one hand over their mouth?

Picture it:
Example 1:
Referee announces: The current word is under review.

Commentators in the booth ask: Did he say the "N-word" ?
Was it "er" or "a"? Let's roll the footage.

Example 2:
Referee announces:
Racial slur, on number 32.
15 yard penalty.
1st and 25.

The player gets angry and reacts...He mutters a few more choice words on the banned list.
Referee: Make that 1st and 40!!

Example 3:
Referee: Racial slur number 33.
Number 33: It's not me. I'm Black.
Referee announces: There is no flag on the play.

Example 4:
Referee announces: Foul Language; Defense
( Well Someone on Defense said it...We don't know who; but we heard it )

We hear from the review booth: There was not enough evidence to overturn the play.
( But from a secondary source, we have evidence that number 27 said some words once in a restaurant back in 2012; which leads us to believe the ref made the right call. )
Where does it end?

If something like this is instated; will it be in a constant state of revision; like Obama-care?
Will it become a laughingstock?
If they do away with it; will the owners be called racist?

I suspect the players are going to be against it.
It's not going to work.
It's going to be divisive.
You can't control everyone's speech all the time.
That's up to them.
