Its all about more money for the league. Unfortunately, I'm afraid this is just the beginning. I can see down the road where all NFL games will be on some sort of a pay package, similar to the NFL Sunday Ticket. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling the days of watching the games on free TV are slowly going to be a thing of the past:sadwave:
Just curious and don't want to be argumentative, but why not get a dish? I got DirecTV over a year ago and I will never have cable again.
I know DirecTV will install for free, etc, so it is not any more expensive than cable. In fact, it was cheaper for me.
Maybe some of you cannot have dish's in your neighborhood?
Again just curious
Don't be too quick to blame the cable companies. NFL network is trying to shove their product down their throats. They say their channel has to be part of the basic package or they won't agree to anything.
The cable companies are glad to sell it a la carte, but why ramrod this channel into basic package when more than 50% of viewers would have no interest. If the cable companies agree it will bump everyone's monthly bill and, maybe more importantly, set some kind of precedent for other niche-type channels.

I can think of about 275 of my 300 channels that are "basic" that I don't give a shit about. I think far more people would like to watch a sports channel than CSPAN 1-2-3-4-etc. Or 7 shopping networks.
Still the same, I don't get why we can't pick our own programing? Just like a restaurant has items ranging in price on the menu, cable companies could do the same thing.
