A little trip down Nostalgia Lane for the memories that used to be. Bringing me back mamy, many moons kurby to the rookie days of being a "Capper." There was no homework involved in picking the easy winners from the lines in the Saturday morning paper. So I'd get up early, put the robe on over the pj's, grab the slippers at the door and stroll out to the mailbox to grab the morning paper. Put on a pot of coffee and begin the process of my weekly capping.

Anyone who has played sports or keeps up with the daily news in the sporting world "knows" all the great teams as well as those that are downright terrible. So when you're sipping on your first cup of java and you see that line that you don't even need your bifocals for you circle it "in pen." :scared No need for that pencil bs. This one's a gimme :142smilie You're not really up on all those small colleges as you work your way down the column and those that you do recognize are either too close to the number (as if you'd know) :mj07: or you're not sure of.

So after you've "gathered all your information' you make the phone call to your bookie and place your $10 wagers. You know on Monday you'll be ahead and collect your greenbacks :142smilie

I'm sure we've all gone through similar beginnings in our introduction to the dark side. But in retrospect this is still an effective way to look at games. But of course you go opposite and make that circle with the lead so you can erase your loser :nutkick

In this thread I will put down what I would have circled along with 'Joe' and see what becomes of it.

Todays plays (not that I played them) for entertainment purposes only :cool:

{Kentucky -2}

The number 2 team in the nation ???
PLAY ON Tennessee +2 $$$

{Vanderbilt -2}

Arkansas was just humiliated by the worst team in the SEC.
PLAY ON Arkansas +2

{Baylor -4.5}

Oklahoma has self destructed into one of the worst teams in the Big-12
PLAY ON the Sooners +4.5

Will be back with more thoughts after I get my next round of plays in kurby

With the history of North Carolina firmly planted in the cranium it would have been hard not to take the Tar Heels in this one. BUT the way they've played lately and the way that Wake plays at home (12-1) it would have been hard not to play the Deacons. NC has only won two games in the last ten. Although neither team should be circled in permanent marker :shrug:

{Wake Forest -7.5}
PLAY ON North Carolina +7.5 :scared

Boy do I remember those days before the internet.:mj07:

I sort of remember :00x32 but fear I've lost too many brain cells doing those happy hours :drinky: :mj07:

Two in the MAC just made no sense today :shrug:

Akron -3

They just beat the Green by 26 points last month. Now the're only -3 on the road :mj03: Has Bowling Green made that many adjustments ore did they just get a stud eligible?

PLAY ON BG +3

Ball State just soundly thrashed Toledo by 28 points last month and now they're only giving four and a half to the bottom dwellars with a in the MAC West with an overall record of 3-26 :mj03: (see above)

PLAY ON Toledo +4.5

and the Virginia Tech/Maryland game ?????

The Hokies were totally humiliated at home on Thursday by BC. And now they're the favorites against the Terps. I don't get it :shrug: If I had a GOY it could possibly been on Maryland

PLAY ON Virginia Tech -1
