Just last summer, I was having a good year capping in baseball, but I got into a stretch where every single little break went against me to turn what felt like it should be a huge profit by that point into being down a little. After the White Sox blew a great performance by Burhlre as the blewpen gave a Saturday night game away against the Padres the night before, I happened to be out in Chicago, and when I got home -- quite far from being in the clearest of minds -- I decided I loved the KC/AZ under 9.5 on Sunday.

So I bet my entire account on it.

0-0 in the fourth. 1-0 Dbacks heading to the 7th. Woo!! KC ties it in the seventh... game goes to the eighth, the ninth... still 1-1, we're going to extra innings. But it doesn't matter, because I can still give up SEVEN RUNS (very similar to BDB's story) and still win. The teams each score one in the 10th, and again in the 11th. No worries, though, still only 3-3 and we're in extras. Well, in the 12th, KC decides to put up a 6-spot. I could not believe it. I honestly felt sick. But life goes on, and I ended up reloading and rebounding in July.

Here's the box score from the f*cking game... still pisses me off just to look at it.

K, asking for you guys' help here on a game, wasn't a loss for me, but knew someone on the winning side of it.... just trying to remember what the heck teams were playing.

College Football .... 1996 +/- one year ..... OT game, and favorite covered a spread greater than 7 ..... want to say one of the teams was Notre Dame.... anyone remember being on the winning or losing side of that one that can fill me in?? :D

Rex, if it would have been the other way around, i would have said USC could have been a possibility, but ASU definitely doesn't sound right..... did this happen in '95, '96, or '97?

Worst I have seen, College team getting +11 in OVERTIME, bet over right? WRONG, opposing team scores and goes up by 7 then the team he bet throws a pick and the other team runs it back to win by 13. I didnt even know it was possible. :com: 3 Dimes

That was USC-AZ ST 1997

Had the Houston Oilers +3 when they played the Buffalo Bills in an early 90's playoff game. The Oilers went ahead 35-3 before Jim Kelly was benched for Frank Reich who led the comeback with the Bills winning 41-38. At least I got a push, but it's hard to accept after leading by 35. Also bet the same over under Bleed Dodger Blue referenced above.

Last year had a large bet on the Detroit Lions + 3 1/2(to win a teaser) against the Bears. I was at the game in endzone seats. The game went to OT. Thought I was fine as a field goal either way I win. Lions had the ball and damn Jeff Garcia throws an interception that was returned for a TD right in front of my seat. Very hard loss to swallow......

If you don't want to read the all that...I'll summarize it...44secs=25 pts and 17 of 20 from the stripe

Vince Carter was fouled twice in the final min by the Bruce Bowen ("all NBA defense"---kinda of an oxymoron if you ask me) while SHOOTING 3'S...with the Spurs up 8 and 9 at the time...even after all that nonsense I still had a chance until Scott "the clown" Padgett puts the dagger in me with a 3 ptr with 3 secs left

This beat still has me bitter...

I also remember reading somewhere - maybe S.I. about some guy that had $20k on that Yankees game where Ventura (I think) had that Grand Slam - Single that won the game, but didn't cover/or hit the over because of the ruling on the field - he rounded first, but never crossed the plate, because his teammates were mobbing him. There was a big stew about it when it happened - even got broken down at the time, but this guy had quite a bit of money on it. This guy goes from thinking he is losing his bet to extreme jubilation when Ventura hit the "Grand Slam" to bring in the win on his bet - he apparently goes to bed thinking he won, and then woke up, read the papaer, and shiot his pants! :scared

Was a Met playoff game -- still known as the Grand Slam single, burned a lot of people that night.

Tough beat for the over and run line players

I have a whole list that are actuaqlly worse than this BUT

Had Nova -2.5 (1 unit) and the over 59.5 (3 units) for the half, the other night.

Turned the TV on with 7:22 left in the half. It's 28-23 Nova.

Great, even I can't jinx this over.

WRONG >>> 30-28 @ the half.....

A bad one......

Had the Tennessee Titans 1000/28000 to win the super bowl the year they ended up on the 1 yard line..........remember.........

What made this hurt even more was that there was like 1 minute and 48 seconds left in the game with the score tied 16-16..........Titans had all the momentum coming back from a 16-0 deficit...........had the Rams in a 3rd and 10 pinned on like their 20 yard line.........I figure 1 friggen stop here and we get the ball back on a punt and drive 40 yards and kick a fg with seconds left.......even at worst we get a stop and we go into overtime..........so the unthinkable happens.........Warner to Bruce for a 80 yd td pass.............titans get the ball back and get stopped on the 1 yard line..........

A good one.........

Had the Red Sox to win it all last year and still cant believe they won 4 straight from the evil empire.......still in awe of that achievement........

"Don't remeber exactly what happened but I had the Bills plus points over the patroits. Pats scored on last play of game when ref made a horrible call. Bills were so pissed they walked off the field. All I needed was Pats to kick the XP and I win by 1/2 point. With no Bills on the field , Pats walked it in for a 2pt conversion.

Does it get worse then that?"

ditto that one is "1st" that always comes to my mind.

BILLs / PATS -- 2 point conversion with no defense on field... I had Bills too that dark, dark day. I still hate Pete Caroll because of that call. I remember the camera panning to him on the sideline and he was grinning. Then he shrugs and holds up two fingers and my leathery heart began to flutter. The horror. The horror.

Keep them coming! Currently, I would rank them in this order (#1 being the most heartbreaking).

#1 - Bills walk off the field and don't cover.

#2 - Ventura's grand slam single.

#3 - Jays and Yanks go over 9.5.

Belmont Park late 60's, late afternoon a 23/1 shot entering the stretch so far ahead, the track TVs couldn't find the rest of the field. All of a sudden, she sees her shadow and starts to hop like a bunny, really, head down right to left, etc. At the end of the race, the whole field passed her while she was still jumping her shadow.
