Pistons -1.5 over Lakers
They are the better team. They are playing better and right now Brown's outcoaching Phil.Again defense and rebounding have been the key.And the Pistons do that better then anybody.
Lakers are capable of course of waking up and getting their offense going.Pistons offense might stall because many feel they are just playing over their heads.Rip and Billups score and the rest play solid defense.Prince,Rasheed, etc are also off. threats but every nite the Pistons have their great defense going.
To me that is the key. Shaq is seeing a 5 man tag team thrown at him and their going 1/1.B-Wallace and Campbell have done a great job on the low post.Throw in RW,Mehmet, and Corliss and these tag players have somewhat nuetralized him.
Kobe also has been harrased by a few.Prince and co have done a great job on him. He's forcing his shots.
What Brown has done is slow down the 2 studs and wants the other laker role players to beat him.
Payton is terrible. His numbers vs Billups in unreal.Magic yest really critized him.Paytons offense has disapperaed. But the real problem is his defense. He can't stop Billups. In the 1st 2 games Billups outscored him 49-5.
Malone is hurting and a lot slower.Walton has added spark with his pass-first-shoot second-play.
But Laker defense is poor.Brown is taking advantage of the pick and roll with Shaq.Shaq doesn't have the mobility to make the switch like he used too.
I have said this before.Pistons have "legs"They are faster, quicker and seem to jump higher.
Ben W has been unreal on the bds.Rip H has emerged into a superstar in the playoffs.Remember all the talk about Stackhouse and how bad that trade was for the Pistons.Dumars sure new something.
Lakers have had so many problems. Shaq complaining he's not getting the ball enough and why is Phil not playing some of the Vets like Fox and co.Kobe responding "thats not the problem".Payton whinning about the triangle offense.Malone's injury and problems with a fan.And the fans keeping up the players at the hotel.[ha]
The officials and the one sided calls on fouls.Lakers being made out to be crybabies. I do see their pt.It does seem like the Pistons are getting more calls.Desperation game tonite down 2-1.Should of been down 3-0. I could go on and on.

Pistons have outplayed the Lakers in 9 of 12 quarters. It would of been 10-12 but Lakers outscored Pistons 16-15 in game 3.
Everyone is waiting for the big comeback by LA.I don't think its coming.
We have been fed "west is the best" and "east is the least".I also believed that and in the past, the records do show that.
"they run in the west and they bang in the east". TV,media, etc have brainwashed us into that.
But the Pistons are the best defensive team by far.Holding teams to under the 80 pt "mendoza line".
Their post defense is excellant.Browns game plan in this series has been great.
Lakers were 69-33 in the regular season. And an amazing 39-59 ats. That's unreal.Maybe someone can throw in the playoffs ats record.
Pistons win and cover in the Palace.....
thanks Lowell,Scott-A,Ahjoh and Scott4USC.... GL to everyone

Going with a longshot in the Pocono 500...there are 10 teachers from my school there today.I asked the one that is an expert in NASCAR "give me your longshot" to win.He picked Terry Labonte at 50-1.
was invited to the Poc-500 but declined. Next friday I'm at Shinnecock and the US Open...

i agree BOX

i agree BOX

this one might be trickier b/c of Magics slurs etc, but I took Deet to win in 5 and 6 with good +odds ...

key to it IMO is plain and simple will Deet keep beating Lakers to stray balls and contesting their paint shots, while making LA move their feet and keep hacking ...

I am the first to admit when this trade occured I thought" what the hell is Detroit thinking........the wizards got a steal of a deal".

Boy was I dead wrong:confused:

Prince is playing Kobe tough.......he is playing back far enough to not allow a drive to the hoop but yet playing close enough that even though Kobe is getting the shot off he is being harassed enough by Prince's long reach......great "d".

Mav,that trade looked one sided. But Hamilton changed his style under Brown.I'm impressed on how he moves w/o the ball and all the screens he gets baseline.

Pistons are the better team. Many had the Lakers because there is no way they can lose 3 in Detroit. But the defense again esp. in the 4th qrt was the LA demise.
Not the bad calls and excuses.I heard today that Michael Thompson said their is a conspiracy to keep the lakers from winning,Lakers had 91 FT's to Minnys 48.I'll admit there had been some questionable calls.
Pistons play that aggressive style.Lakers can't play that way but are trying. As a coach anytime I played a physical team and I tried to play like that we fouled more. It's not my style and it wasn't our strength. We played more physical but didn't have the finesse. My players would be getting banged so I would tell them to "bang back".But we do it looking stupid.Look in the 4t qrt yest.Payton pushes Rip with the ball and a few seconds later Kobe reaches in and knocks someone. My teams did that.It took me yrs before I realized I can't tell my kids to bang like the other team.I think Phil is almost in the same situation at some pt in the games.' there kicking our ass, lets get back at them"....It doesn't work esp against teams that play great aggressive defense and are ranked No 1 in the NBA...[not sure if this is making any sense] Anyway...
Shaq played great. He had 36 pts and was almost unstopable until the 4th qrt.Kobe again looked terrible.Forcing shots and what I used to call" gunning" the ball. He was 8-25. Kobe is 22-65 in the series.Malone the 2nd highest scorer in NBA history had 2 pts in 21 minuts.Payton who couldn't gd his own shadow had 8 huge pts but didn't go to the FT line once.
Walton had 0 pts. Rush had 0.Fisher had 4,Fox had 2 and George 5 pts.
Those total pts of those players have nothing to do with the refs and a conspiracy.Ben Wallace missing his 2nd FT and payton and Fisher watching him go in the lane and get his missed shot and put it back in was a defensive blunder.
To me that was the turning pt.Pistons led from then on.

Then Rasheed having his best game of the yr.Those turnaround jumpers fading away was " throwback" basketball.Jerry West and Jerry Lucas style.
Pistons doubling and tripling Kobe has caused him to miss 65 shots. Not officaiting, not events in Colorado,or his teamates.

Pistons are the better team.Again they have the "legs" in this series. If Larry fouled Shaq or Kobe in game 2 this series would be over.Pistons have outplayed Lakers in 12 of 16 quarters. And the quarters the lakers have won are by 1 or 2 pts.

Someone said "Are these the Lakers of old or a bunch of old,old Lakers".

I won't be here tomr nite.

Pistons win -3.No way there going back to LA.There will be celebrating in Motown....

pt gd..I have Pistons in 7...damn..I blew that one.

GL to everyone, thanks for the nice comments...

I hope your wrong but thanks for giving your analysis and opinion. I really enjoy your posts because you never just give a pick. Nobody learns anything from that. I don't understand why more people don't take the time to do write-ups. Thanks again for always giving great analysis even if I disagree. I can always learn something or get different viewpoint.

Maybe the something you should learn is "how to quit crying when your team is losing"

TAKE YOU OWN ADVICE........
