who said your supposed to? i think he's more of a hero because he's 77 years old. that's actually the most impressive part imo.

Now Smurph i never knew he was 77. That is even more impressive to me than anything. Totally agree. I think if i was 77 the shit in my pants would have taken me right under the desk.

Sponge, at times I too think that the media over-sensationalizes people and events.

Things that get reported seem to have a ring to it when you slap on a title,

largest shooting in US History

Holocaust survivor. etc.

But I think that u have taken this one a bit far, because, as insensitive as I am to the press,

this time it does mean a lot to distinguish him as such.

I mean the courage to live thru one horrific event and to have the nerve to act as he did in another.

That in itself deserves attention, and praise.

And it just sounds better than,

Lew Baldwin, Powerball winner of 15 billion, throws himself at door to save people.

Powerball winner Lew Baldwin , quite the hero.

i don't know Padre. i never knew the guy was 77. Geez a 77 year old professor does something like this that is impressive. That is a hero. why bring in the other stuff then again that is our press at there finest. I hope if i ever save someone they will remember me by saying "Sponge the guy who saved the persons life a guy who use to write 9 out of 10 post at madjacks that went right over Kosars head" or sum shit like that.

Really now? Please elaborate. This is the first you've mentioned anything about this.

lol...

i`m not really faulting these students for reacting instinctively with fear in the last few seconds of their lives....

but, remember the brit sailors bending over for the iranians with all that firepower around them?

i remember a few weeks ago the big, burly off-duty cop who beat up a petite female bartender while several men just stood around?...the only guy who finally stepped up even a little, was,i think, some old guy.....

courage doesn`t seem to be a masculine trait anymore...maybe we could use a little "todd beamer" training for the general populace....

nowadays,it seems like all the police wind up doing is counting bodies and directing the bereaved to grief counselors....

this millenium generation is being raised to be ball-less, brainless and subserviant...ready for the bullet or the gas chamber or the death march....

btw....i never watched seinfeld...a little too "jooey" for my taste(just trying to fit in with the rest of the benevolent, open minded progressives liberals in the forum):D....

Weasal this is three different type of situations. The cop situation if i knew the guy was a cop i wouldnt have jumped in either. I would have probably just tried to get between them. In my neck of the woods if i slammed a chair over that cops head i still would be getting daily beatings in jail. Two were the Iranians firing on the British? This neocon garabge saying you guys would have fought back is just that garbage. In both these incidents there was time to react. The last one there was no time. It was every person for themselves. I bet the iranian boat pulled up and discussed the matter and arrested the British. You neocons act like this was a fire fight.

Good one Sponge, but I think that if that distinction will ever make the press u need to embellish it a bit, so take that number up a bit to like 15 or 20. Hell I would believe that .

spongy...i`m kidding of course...and i`m not denigrating you or those students.....they had no clue how to react...

what i`m saying is that maybe...in this time of terrorism and deranged gunmen.....i would be willing to have my tax dollars pay for a mandatory collegiate(hell,jr high or high school) course similar to the boot camp experience, instead of the "unwed lesbian nappy headed ho`s against nuclear energy" course......

the people who water down our "hawkish" senisibilities, are the same ones who give no options for defending your own life....

develop some situational awareness...

You want to see something unbelievable to most but not me Weasal? Go check out the NBA thread i wrote about a week ago on how the corrupt NBA likes to have "situational awareness" policies. Look what i said and if Jersey wins tonight step by step i was right on their agenda. That isn't luck it is a guy with astonishing situational awareness.
