Was a damn shame skipper as Tenn deserved that win:0008

I am not big on "deserving to win" but I understand and appreciate where you are coming from. The fact is, the defensive coordinator was not prepared for that sequence of events. As a coach, you have to have your defense prepared for two situations - one is if they run and the clock still runs, and two is if there is a pass and a clock stoppage. Clearly, he was not prepared for the prior.

Now, I understand that the Vols have walk-ons, WR's playing CB, and injuries so you have freshmen, etc. However, coaching comes down to preparation, and you cannot lose a game if you aren't prepared for the entire game.

Tough loss - absolutely. Did EVERY UT fan think before the year started that we would be 2-3 at this point? Absolutely. The key will be how the team plays from here on out. These things will test the character of a young, YOUNG team.

I am pretty much on board with you on that BBC, but I think he was just showing his players that he will fight for them.

He is very hard on the team and individuals at times, so you have to show your players that you will fight for them if they leave it on the field.

If it continues to happen, I would be in agreement with you.

I want them to do well and him acting like that hurts them as he's competing for recruits with the slickest coaches in the country. As an outsider, a strong Tennessee makes the SEC much more interesting. A lot to be proud of with the performance yesterday.

I thought Dooley represented himself and his university very poorly yesterday, both during and after the game.

I agree for the most part Cie. I think he was trying to make a statement to his players that he will fight for them. I think he was also trying to keep from killing Wilcox for not bringing the heat on 4th and 14 and dropping seven.

I don't think the pass interference play had much to do with the outcome. There was still very little time and what did they gain, 3-4 yards?

Much has been made in the media up here about how hard he is on his players. I coached for ten years, and was always hard on my players. If you coach like that, you have to also let them know - AT TIMES - that you are going to fight for them. I made an ass out of myself a couple of times and you learn from it. You also send a message to your team that you will not give up on them and they will continue to fight for you.

We will see what happens in this case.

Again, you have to know his psychology as a coach. You say acting like that hurts him and would agree that if it were a thing you see every game, of course. However - you also see a guy that is going to fight for his team.

I would also be surprised if you don't hear an apology from him this week. He is smart, and would definitely be allowed a mulligan for a loss like that.
