U of H will be much more up-tempo this season than ever before. Penders teams are known for chucking up threes, but last season they ran more clock than ever before launching them.
This season Penders has no choice but to run and gun because he has athletes galore, but no bigmen AT ALL.
He stated in the paper that he will use 5 guards on the floor at times. He said he knows the offense will be great, but the defense is another matter.

Returning is Oliver Lafyette(16PPG).Add with him JUCO transfers Fluff McKiver(San Jac JC) who can shoot lights out and Marcus Malone a Depaul transfer via Lee JC. All reports are that Malone is a passing wizard who takes care of the ball and can fly.
Currently down for U of H is Lanny Smith(Hand injury-may RS) and Dion Dowell(transfer from Texas-not eligible til Dec.).

I think this team will be scoring and giving up a ton of points this season as they will trap and force you into their style of game.

Tonite they play @Rhode Island(U of H won 67-41 in Hous last year).

I know Rhode Island does not score much, but I think they do tonight.

SMALL PLAY HOUSTON(-2)
MEDIUM PLAY OVER 144

By the way, this is not a homer pick.I hate the Coogs with a passion.Just living in Houston gives me some knowledge of them.

Good Luck in your plays.

Hate the coogs with a passion?

Shame shame

What did they ever do to you, pray tell?

Like the writeup, as fellow Houstonian and Coog fan, and I made a small play on UH -2, even though line has dropped from 3.5

GL to us. Maybe Coog win will make you like em more!

agree completely on houston as far as philosophy and penders. but want to wait a game or two to see how they adjust to playing without smith. thats a pretty big loss because he was a consistent contributor for them. rhode island is also a slow down team who plays so many games in the 120s and 130s that i was actually hoping for a low scoring game here so that the houston totals will really present some value in the coming weeks. because theyre going to def run and gun against the right teams and cash some overs.

Have too many friends that went to U of H.
They are misunderstood about quality NCAA sports.
It annoys me to see them proud of beating bad teams then cry about no respect.
I do like Penders.Either he wins or he entertains you.
You get your moneys worth when you attend a Penders coached game. His sideline antics are the best.

I am worried that RI slow down may prevail as it did last season. U of H was more halfcourt last year and will try to force the issue tonite.
Lanny Smith is not as big a blow because the JUCO guys are just like him.

its probably mean to laugh about it, but its still funny as hell that he got a technical last year when he passed out on the sidelines for real and had to be taken to the hospital ... and the refs didnt rescind the tech.

What an absolute looser! Look at UT 3 years after he left, and GWash before and after he left. He has had health issues, but is lazy. UH will not prosper with him.

U of H was a train wreck when Penders arrived.
Houston is a commuter school more than anything and has always had attendence issues.
Penders took a 9-17 team before he arrived and went 18-14 and 21-10 last season.

I agree with you about UT and GW and maybe U of H is a mess when he is done, but he has created excitemnet into this dead program.
Attendence is way up under him and so are expectations.

90-90 at end of regulation. Don't get many overs this easy. Went over with 7:00 to go.

Now if only Coogs can finish!
