So....take Mitt Romney and Rush Limbaugh, both very, very rich men.

How many jobs did they create last year? How many in the last five or ten years? Huh? How many?

Skulnutz, Hedge, Raymond....how many?

Now let's look at jobs created by men who started with little or nothing: Sam Walton, Dave Thomas, Harlan Sanders, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Henry Ford.

How many jobs did THEY create?

Thankfully they were all men with a dream, a vision, and they got off their behinds and worked hard and smart.


Ford paid his employees $5/day when that was an unheard of wage, and the rest shared their huge wealth with the employees who helped them build their companies.

Ford's been dead a long time, but among the others, I can't think of a single time when any of them whined that they couldn't build strong companies and get rich because the government interfered with them.

Romney and Limbaugh whine all day, every day.

Draw you own conclusions about who creates jobs.

Question for you Duff.. And we can use Steve Jobs as an example but for most of these great Americans this will apply..

Apple currently employees over 60,400 people world wide....
My question is did Steve Jobs hire all these people when he was dirt poor working out of his garage???

Or after he made a shit zillion dollars and had the capital to build buildings, create infrastructure and then hire thousands and thousands of people???

The truth is if Steve Jobs wasn?t a multimillionaire first.. A large majority of these people would not have jobs with Apple becuase he wouldnt have been able to afford most of them.

But of course Im giving him too much credit.. "He didnt build that." He only made it cause he had all that help from the government:facepalm:

As he began to make some money, he spent that money to grow his business. He hired people and invested that money in new product designs,

He did not deposit his first millions in Swiss or Cayman Island banks where it would earn interest nearly tax free and be safe. He risked his money on a dream; he spent his money creating jobs, and more jobs.

Whether you like Jobs or not, the fact is that he invested and reinvested in products, people and jobs. He created a few hundred millionaires, and ten of thousands of decent jobs.

And, yes, Steve Jobs did benefit from our government. He benefited from the equal chance given to a half-Arab young man. He benefited from a well educated work force. He benefited from an economy able to afford his products. He benefited from tax incentives for investment. He benefited from the freedom to pursue a dream.

Now take Limbaugh as an example. He has spent his entire life promoting divisiveness and hatred and he has made a lot of money. How many good jobs has he created with that money?

Steve Jobs vs Rush Limbaugh - which is the more valuable American; the one who invented fantastic products and built a strong business, or the one who became rich creating fear and hatred, setting one American against another?

It's too bad that Hell is only a fantasy. I like to imagine the huge grease fire that would result from roasting Limbaugh on Satan's grill.

The same reason vegetables are imported from Central America and textiles from India.

Cheap labor.

One answer to that problem is to reduce the incomes of middle Americans. And that is happening now. That's trimming a hangnail with a hatchet.

Another answer is import duties. That worked well in the past.

Another answer is to take advantage of our own strengths. There are right now, American manufacturers who compete head-to-head with cheap labor countries and do just fine. Lincoln Electric is one, and they pay their employees well, but they don't piss away money or layers of high paid but worthless bureaucrats. Nucor Steel is another. Well paid and motivated employees, and lean, effective management.

BMW, right down the road from me, has created 7000+ good paying jobs by working harder and smarter. No million dollar bonuses or three Martini lunches there.

The title of your thread about Rich People suggest you are refuting the fact that Rich people create jobs.

My contention was that rich men do create jobs and used Steve Jobs as an example because he didn?t hire anybody till he had the money to do so.

The real job creators are the young, smart, brave, and hard working who would like to become rich. They are Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and the young guy who takes out a $50K SBA loan to start a landscaping business or open a restaurant.
