The hottest team in the bigs, with their ace, heck possibly one of the top 5 pitchers of all time on the hill, and they open as a modest -127 favorite and barely move from that number with a good amount of the public on them?

Looks a lot like:

9/26 Brandon Webb goes down as a -118 road fav
9/27 Chris Young goes down as a -117 road fav

Gotta take a shot with the Braves tonight, Houston has never seen James and he is a very good lefty. The Braves are on the outside looking in for the first time in what 14 years? Maybe they just lay down for Roger and help the Astros make one of the greatest playoff runs in history tonight, or maybe not, I am betting on the latter.

I was just thinking this as well. What's up here? Well maybe because it's tough to win 10 in a row and Rocket had a short outing in his last game. But the Stros are on a mission right now, they are coming into this game as do or die.

Adding more to this play, just got home and all they can talk about on ESPN is this game tonight. Also a quick glance around the forums indicates the Astro's are free money. How many innings have the Houston relievers pitched in the last week? Clemens better be ready to go more than his usual 5-6 innings tonight, or the Astro's may be in trouble.

Hey KG just saw your response. Got the same feeling about this game as I did with the Giants on Tuesday, Cardinals on Wednesday, and the Mets last night. Should be a good game, will be looking forward to watching it.

You betting against those Cards? They don't seem to even care that their about to make history and not in the good way. La Russa was talking about how they are still in the drivers seat? Buddy, if you were ever in that drivers seat you slided over to passenger when you let the Brew Crew run wild all over you.

i agree the line looks out of whack.
but to cite webb and young as examples dont tell the whole story.

webb dominated san fran and lost because of errors behind him in the 8th innings -- not because of a heavy public backing. giants did nothing against him the whole game.

young lost because meredith gave up a 2-out, 3-run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning. cards did nothing against him the whole game.

I fully expect Clemens to dominate tonight, but teams seem to let up at the plate with their aces on the hill, see your examples for instance. All it takes is an error or a couple of fluke plays and their goes the ball game. Clemens leads the league in being shutout when he pitches, and although I do not think that will happen I expect the Astro's have a hard time getting runs across the plate tonight.

CLEMENS was in a dog fight on 3 days rest the last outing off over 100 pitches the start before.

He is back on regular rest after 76 pitches last out....

i think he gets banged out tonite.

Pujo he fought like the warrior he is but as usual the bats did not back him up again tonight.

These short road favs are tanking this week, now if I can just learn to fade the short home favs I will be in business.

...it makes me wanna pull my hair out how this 'STROS team can't get up for Roger's games and win these things for him this season....????

you think they'd know that he'll keep the opponents under 3 runs on average...??

downright baffles me.
