Lay off this Cubbie; Mom's got his back

UNION-TRIBUNE NEWS SERVICES
May 30, 2006

A couple of fans sitting in the family section behind home plate at Wrigley Field got on Cubs right fielder Jacque Jones after he struck out Friday, and were treated to an earful from Jones' mom.

Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune says Jones lost a ball in the sun in the top of the seventh, ruining Carlos Zambrano's no-hit bid. In the bottom of the inning, Jones was called out on strikes and a fan allegedly yelled, ?The sun must have gotten in your eyes.?

According to witnesses, the fan was berated by a finger-wagging woman wearing a replica of Jones' No. 11 jersey. It was Jones' mother, sitting two rows away.
?She took care of it,? Jones, a San Diego High alum, told the Tribune. ?She took care of it how every parent should. You shouldn't have to listen to that when you come to games.?

Wrigley security arrived to calm matters and supposedly was told by the berating fans that they were sitting in manager Dusty Baker's seats. Baker said he wasn't sure about that.

Jones said it was his mom's second trip to Wrigley.

?She thinks it is like that all the time,? he said.

They were talking about it on the radio today here.

The Tribune Company is going through a stretch of financial red, and is selling off some of the company's assests, but says it's NOT selling the Cubs. They could be seeing what interest there is in them though IMO. I think Cuban is good for the city of Dallas and I think if he decided to throw another team in his stable, he'd make a ton of money with this fan base. It's well known, nothing would be bigger than a Cubs champio......

Doubt it's in the cards. Cuban will be content for a while when the Mavs take it all. The Tribune is just making way too much money (on the books and off) from this team to give up the golden goose.

Now if the lemmings stop going through the turnstyles?????????

New Excuse for Dusty
June 8, 2006 at 9:04 PM CST

"We ran into a hot team, the Reds had won 7 straight, we can't be expected to stop their streak."

Wood is hurt, oh, wait, he wasn't pitching tonight.

We were watching Prior's Minor League Start.

We were trying to be aggressive with Arroyo.

We were worried he'd hit HRs off Rusch, so we gave them up to the 7,8 and leadoff hitters.

Hey! Griffey didn't hit one! (oh he didn't play? so what, we still kept him off the bases!)

We kept Adam Dunn in the yard, don't we get points for that?

We didn't get any walks, so we didn't clog up the basepaths, ain't that worth something?

We struck out 10 to their 4, that should help, no?

Greatest fans with a ballpark nicknamed "the friendly confines"

Throwing crap on the field and stopping play is getting to be a regular activity.

Got to love it on national tv! :mj07:

Baker wouldn't speculate about what the committee would like to ask him, but two subjects appear obvious: Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa. Baker managed both players and acknowledged the discussion likely would include their names.

''Yeah, probably so,'' he said. ''I don't know why Sammy's being mentioned. Barry's being investigated with the BALCO thing, but Sammy's name has never been mentioned. At this point, there are a lot of people under investigation.

''Dude, I haven't had any questions yet. How could I say what it's about? Do you really believe they would say, 'Oh, Dusty, these are the questions we're going to ask you'? I don't know. Nobody is supposed to say.''

DUDE you are a PHUCKING DIPSHIT :mj07:
