Lucena thanks for providing the real flavor of chess tournaments. I can attest to the accuracy of your portrayal. Personally, I quit playing tourneys because it has all migrated to speed chess while I preferred the immersion of a long struggle.
I am a Class B player and very briefly held a low Class A rating. Now that I am married though I could hardly afford the time or expense of tournament chess in any event though I continue to scan the USCF mag.
