The Shanks

I need a quick fix for my golf swing asap. I have been playing really good latley and today I was

playing and i start shanking the ball to the right with my pitching wedge. All my pitching wedges shots that

are from 80 yards out to 20 yards out started shanking to the right. Its almost like a duck hook but a duck slice I went to the driving range to

try and fix it but it just seemed to get worse and I started to do it with all my other irons. Tomorrow I

have a huge tourney and I dont want to go out there and start shanking all my shots. If anyone has any suggestions on a quick fix I would apprecitate it.

A lot of the time these type of things are either a timing issue or head movement. Make sure and keep your head still.

When you hit balls tomorrow start out hitting shots at like 75% to 80% normal tempo, this will help you get your tempo back. Also you might be sliding a bit so pretend like you have a soccer ball between your knees and slightly squeeze it. If you are doing this it will prevent you from sliding and force you to rotate instead. Just try it.

Next time you start hitting these type of shots my belief is you should never go straight to the range, instead come back the next day.

shhhhhhhhh...:nono: Don't even mention that word!

go to the range and put your feet togeather while you swing. Hit about 5 balls and you will be cured. This will force you to roll your wrists and get through the shot.

I should of thought about that about going to the range because I was obviously doing something wrong and I didn't want it to be muscle memory

Whenever I have this issue, I try putting my weight on my left leg (I'm a righty) in order to stay down on the ball. Good luck.

Whenever I see anyone doing this I always put my weight on the back of my heels and swing my foot through the entire kick to his nuts. Thereby eliminating the chance of him putting another golf ball in my pool. Hope this helps.

Well I had the tourney today I didn't shoot to well I got off the tee really good and my long irons were

definitly on but I was so bad from 80 to 20 in. I just didnt feel right with my shots from that distance. I

shot a 81 (9 over) better then I suspected last night but not on the best of my game. Ill take it compared

to what I was hitting on the range yesturday. I really apprecaite all your guys help. And keep working on my game.

GL and you need to practice your short game as much as you do the rest of your game. It may not be as exciting but play games with yourself, your scores will dramatically decrease.
