Anyone out there play tournament pool? The professional players got involved with Kevin Trudeau (yes that Trudeau) in an organization called IPT, and were given all sorts of promises regarding BIG paydays. Without going into the entire saga....last tournament ist place 500K ,2nd 150K etc..NO ONE GOT PAID and no one has been paid yet. Recently the IPT said nope we're not paying the advertised payouts, we will pay 1/3 payouts and these will be paid in three monthly payments. Bottom line......Does anyone know if the IPT can be sued for contract violations?

Yes they can be sued, and probably will be, problem is you can't get money from people who don't have any.

I follow tournament pool on and off, even got to play agianst Johnny Archer, Fransisco Bustamante and Loree Jon Jones so if you have a link to this story I would love to read it.

Did they actually sign a contract? A promise is nothng more then a bet made with Scott4USC, its probably not going to pay and there is no recourse.

Interesting penguinfan--often wondered if any pool fans here--use to play quite a bit in Missouri before I moved to Ky bout 24 years ago. Quit cause I used to play bar tables and things were getting to rough--so took up golf.

Best bar pool player I ever saw was fellow by name of Matlock from northern Missouri--don't know what came of him. Used to watch Louie roberts quite a bit till he committed suicide--word is it wasn't suicide.

Couldn't play with the big boys but did beat one who I found out afterwards was fellow by name of Howard Vickary--had ponytail and coke bottle glasses.Last time I saw him was as participant in tourny on movie Color of Money. Trying to think of name of other fellow I played once from West coast--he looked like mirror image of Captain Kangaroo.

DTB, pool has so many colorful characters you could fill a library with books about them, shame most are on such a local level the rest of the world never hears about them.

Im also a billards follower. It is a shame that the billiards world has come down to this. Funny thing is you always worry about getting paid when you get in action, I WOULD HAD NEVER THOUGHT THIS WOULD HAPPEN IN A TOURNAMET:scared :scared :mj07: . This is why
I quit. The Billiard world is a eat or get eaten world. After the MPBA folded, the game has gone to the dogs.

I was in a tournament here in Dallas where Earl the Pearl ran 11 racks for 100,000, cant really remember the amount, but I don't think he got paid either because of a techincallity,sp.

Dave Matlock is living in Kansas now, Howard Vickory is in Ohio I think, and Earl got paid after some litigation and CJ paying him...amount never released.
