You're already up 3 with :22 left and Dallas has 0 timeouts... chances they go down the field are slim and none... by kicking a FG, you allow them a chance to either block it and return it for a TD or a kick return for a TD... not only that, but going up 6 doesn't technically ice the game... you need 2 yards... if you get it, ball game... if you don't, there's about :15 left... even less of a chance of Dallas going down the field...

with about 12-15 secs left after a failed 4th down try dal would have little chance to get in fg range and tie the game.....they'd need about 50 yards in 1-2 plays.....by going for it you eliminate the blocked fg, kickoff return and dal still needs a td to beat you....but you've given yourself a 50-50 shot at getting 2 yards on 4th down to end the game

kicking wasnt a no-brainer and i think if it was within 1 yard he prob goes for it

personally i would have gone for it....then again, i had dal +5

I remember that game well but in all the games you have ever seen that was one time it happened. Now opening day Vikes got ball at own 20 and went 45 yards in 18 seconds with no time outs and kick tying fg
